Um, my music is on Spotify, and I wouldn't want people to be paying Spotify to profit off of my music while I get nothing. Contrary to all the moaning that Spotify doesn't pay artists anything, most of my income comes from Spotify (actually, Bandcamp but Spotify is catching up!).
Music streaming makes sense on bandcamp where you can then buy the album, but it makes little sense on streaming services such as spotify where streaming is the product itself.
Yeah, it really takes a Mensa membership to deduce that Mike is a shill for Google after all these stories have been written. What's next, you're going to accuse Donald J. Trump of being compassionate?

I suggest you watch the documentary "Netflix vs. The World", therein it is discussed how the name "Netflix" was arrived at. They just had a list of possible names they brainstormed and the grand champion of the battle royale was "Netflix". Believe it or not, the company was almost called "Netpix".

That's fair. It's just nonsensical when streaming is-as I said-the product per se and not a means to acquire the product.

BTW, before I get misinterpreted, I never ate feces, but I had eaten vegemite.
Then again, I guess it's hard to tell the difference between them...

Vegemite also tastes like crap (I've had some, so I should know).

Not really. It could also be your boss, your kids, your parents, your husband, or a bunch of other people.

Here's hoping...

I'm not too optimistic, though...

I disagree with that comparison; I found The Last Jedi enjoyable. I don't think I could say the same about EARN IT.

My point is that Steamboat Willie was created when 56 years was the maximum term but now © is at an ungodly scope and at an ungodly length (though I am extremely grateful it's at least expiring and the Music Modernization Act means I don't have to pay extra for cover songs of ©'d music unless I upload them onto bandcamp).

Re: Re: Re: Re:
Agreed. The 28+optional extra 28 system had its problems, but it was far, far better (light decades, even) than the current system we have. © was opt-in, not opt-out. There was an option for renewal so if something didn't make money the first term around it would enter the public domain. Also, © didn't take up an entire person's life and seventy years after that, 56 years max is, IMHO, extremely acceptable seeing as what could have entered the public domain (even stuff from the 1990's that didn't succeed!).
It just sucks that greed from the landlords meant that it took so long for us to have nice things.
