I gotta say I agree! While magic, homeopathy, and get rich quick schemes are complete scams and ethically reprehensible, anyone seeking these things really deserve exactly what they get: Nothing, or scammed.
They're so obvious and transparent that anyone who's fooled deserve it. It's essentially economic natural selection, and is essentially the same as buying "Fresh" seafood out of the back of a van in in rural Colorado.
I'll do you one better.

All you need to do is dump in Lake Michigan, wait 15 minutes for OPTIMAL MIXING and AGITATION, then drink 10 gallons of ocean water!
There is a third option, which is AGPS, which is quite common.
Most modern phones don't run standalone GPS by default, mainly because it takes a ton of processing to do it (relative to the capabilities of a cheap prepaid phone), and it also drains the battery.
Most phones use AGPS, which is sending the raw GPS receiver output from the phone to a cell tower, or nearby server that has some compute power, then sends the coordinates back to the phone.
They may not have needed to ping the phone at all. If Bigfoot used his GPS, it most likely sent his GPS data directly to the cell carrier which calculated his location, and was logged.
It pisses me off when people screw up things like loose/lose and wear/where/were/ware. If you have something you think is important to say, then take an extra second or two to make sure you say it intelligibly.
It's lazy and selfish not to use language correctly. It's lazy because it's easy, just read it out loud to yourself, and pay attention to your intention. It's selfish because what would take a minute or so for the writer to do once makes everyone who tries to read their writing stumble trying to read it. Your saving a minute costs the collective hours when added up.
My theory is that most sports broadcasters, and most advertisers in the States know that their viewership doesn't pay very much attention during any given game. Given that knowledge, the broadcasters have to push a lot more ads, in order to make up for the unfocused eyeball factor of the majority of sports viewers.
Re: Re: Well why hasn't shaming worked for the RIAA and the MPAA?
Shame also requires that the one doing the shaming be credible to the one being shamed. If the shame-ee (new word?) doesn't care what the shamer says, and feels that the shamer is just a blowhard douchebag, the shame-ee doesn't feel shamed at all.
Guilt on the other hand doesn't require anyone to tell the guilty to feel guilty at all. Guilt is intrinsic to the one who committed an act they feel is wrong, and therefore the VAST majority of millennials will NEVER feel guilty about illegal downloads, and they most likely will never feel shame, because they don't feel that the MPAA or the RIAA are credible, or have any moral high ground whatsoever.
Yeah. The execs gave the judge a performance of fellatio that exceeded last quarter's standard. Now they get incentivized to do even better in another 3 months.
"It clearly shows an FBI agent spraying Dotcom's kitchen sink with piss the color of Jack Daniels, then taking a massive wet dump on his coffee table."
While it's a good joke, you could stand to pare down the setup so you don't lose your audience halfway through. Reading it out loud, the delivery works well, and in the great oral tradition of comedy I'm sure it's well paced, but in writing I personally feel it's a little labored.
Also, don't forget that you aren't subjected to a CAT/PET scan or MRI whether you want one or not whenever you go to the doctor's office, even if you just want to refill a prescription.
No they won't. They've been told to explain why there hasn't been public comment, and they have 'till August 31st.
They'll just ignore it, and the DoJ will say: "shape up or will get very mad at you."
The TSA will ignore that, cycle repeats, DoJ does nothing as it's full of toothless cowards who aren't willing to arrest relevant assholes who ignore the court.
If I am ordered to appear before the court and ignore it, I'll have a bench warrant for arrest in much shorter than a year.
Why does the TSA who are exposing people to radiation, and constantly violating peoples' civil and human rights get to be treated differently?
It's interesting you mention the draft. I remember seeing a bunch of old films and reading in a lot of textbooks about the war effort at home during WWII, and it seems to me like Boeing and other large companies essentially were drafted. (I grew up in Seattle so I've been to all the museums a zillion times.)
Boeing made a killing supplying bombers, and if they didn't offer their services, they would have been in a world of hurt. All commercial aviation development was halted during the war in order to supply bombers, and parts for other planes.

Arthur C. Clarke said it best:
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
My corollary is: As long as the people distinguishing are sufficiently ignorant, and uncurious.
