no wonder they have to resort to such desperate and disreputable means of meeting on the inertnet tubes
You mean like, the millions upon millions of non christians that use the same means and methods of meeting others through sites like match.com and others? I don't get it, your argument is illogical and self defeating.
Or like when atheist groups demand that monuments that have been in place for many decades that are christian in nature be removed because it goes against their faith in atheism...err I mean some mythical separation of church and state in the Constitution.
1. Atheism requires just as much faith if not more so since they have no "proof" that their belief in evolution and anything not "creation" related is true. Feel free to prove there is no God. Better yet, stop feeling so threatened by a God you're so sure doesn't exist. 2. Constitution states that the federal government will not establish a state mandated religious institution that all civilians must follow (ie... church of England est by Henry the 8th). 3. Having any type of religious based monument at a government facility does NOT meet the requirement of point 2 (first amendment).
^This^ It's the same thing when Cyprus banks were about to lock everyone out and told the Russian crime syndicates to get their money out before they did. Get ready for the coming crash.
Re: "a nationwide Google expansion would be prohibitively expensive"
Idiot. Techdirt's agenda has been and always will be to post stories for "out_of_the_blue" to comment on. People can't have a good laugh and feel better about themselves if you're not posting in the glorious fucktardedness only you can manage. Can't believe you haven't figured out this conspiracy yet! Oh that's right, the first word of this post.
Well there is bandwidth and then there is concurrent TCP connections. Never cheap out on your router. It can make or break your high speed connection in a lot of cases.
You are soon to be obsolete. The educated consumers thank you for expediting this by pulling game launch snafus such as this.
In case you have not heard, small game developers are making decent games people actually want. They're doing it because they love games and want to treat other gamers how they want to be treated. I'm sure some worthless exec is sitting there saying "Bah! what does this idiot know?!"
See a little story here about how a sequel to an old school RPG met it's $900,000 funding goal in less than 6 hours on Kickstarter.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: But I thought the push was for everyone to have a gun
I didn't realize there was a code of conduct that all home invaders followed stating they weren't allowed to invade someone else's home with a gun, they must attack with melee weapons only.
Oh yeah, that's right, there isn't. All the baddies out there that will invade your property, steal your possessions and kill your family all have guns. Guns they appropriated through non-legal channels that gun control laws do nothing for. Yeah, cowards indeed. I'd call you trolls, but wouldn't want to insult the trolls that harshly.
I'd be pissed too if some news paper who hates the second amendment posted my personal address/name on an interactive map saying "look at these people, they own guns, they're obviously going to murder our kids... go get em!"
Well a bit of a stretch, but lets give it a shot. The second ammendment reads:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Possible argument can be made that the government is infringing on the right of the people to keep and bear arms due to these lists being kept and the way they are or can be used.
Well if you are moving the mouse to another computer and require use of the onboard stored profiles you'd require the installation of their software anyway. So just export/copy the profiles over. OR, have the "cloud" storage as an "option" (note, not required) and pull them down from there. There are many ways to skin a cat. I'm just saying if the main excuse is wanting to cut costs by removing flash memory from the mouse, you can do so without pissing everyone off.
What's the need for internal memory on a mouse? Last I checked computers had this new invention called hard drives. Store the profiles there in the same folder your software is installed in.
Open your mind. Understand you don't have all the numbers.
The level of stupid here isn't worth a response.
There are young kids who don't know how to pirate and will try to share the DVD.
What decade are you living in? DVD? Sharing physical media? I'm sure this is number one on their list to "stop" with DRM.
This will stop them.
No it won't. Congratulations, wrong in one again.
Reddit is the tiny, tiny, vocal minority.
No it isn't. But even if this were to be true, who do you think people go to for word of mouth about whether a game is good or worth getting? Their grandmother? No, their geeky friends who frequent the intarwebs, such as these particular people that were on Reddit.
Do you know Diablo 3 sold over 8 million copies and has always online DRM that couldn't be cracked?
Congratulations on pointing out something that means nothing. So what? It sold about 7.5 million of those copies on name alone. If it wasn't saddled with online only it probably would have sold 10-12 million copies. Guess what else... the game sucked. Out of those 8 million "copies" about 15 people still play it that aren't korean gold farmers or chinese bots. How many "copies" do you think any expansion or sequel will sell? I bet you A LOT less.
So, I already boycott any product with the name Ubisoft on it. EA and Blizzard have recently been added to the list of publishers I will no longer support by buying anything from them.
And by boycott, I also include pirating the same products. I refuse to even pirate it because I don't want to give them any more reason to claim "piracy". There are plenty of decent games out there to buy at good prices that aren't full of DRM and/or Online only requirements.
Also, I refuse to use that crapware EA is pushing as a competitor to Steam.
That crappy reason for preventing the "forever download" IS DRM. Their DRM system is tripped when the CC on file expires, thus preventing further downloads of previously purchased products.
Well, if the computer prints out a paper copy of your ballot showing your votes, I guess there would be a backup paper trail of said votes to fall back on if the machines are suspected of being tampered with or not working properly. I'm pretty sure some of the voting machines out there do have this functionality today. They all need it though.
Sadly, Impulse is no more. Stardock sold this service to Gamestop, so it is now their digital distribution system. I stopped using that system after that, can't stand Gamestop. So all those games I purchased through there go unused.
Also, Stardock's first foray was really Galactic Civ 1 and 2. GalCiv 2 was an amazing game. I also enjoy Sins of a Solar Empire.
I can verify the validity of this email. I received one and logged into my account on Stardock's website. It is indeed there for me to download. I haven't tried it yet so I can't say if its any good or not. I can only assume it is much better than the original, though that is not saying much. I wouldn't say the original was bad due to "bugs", I would say it just plane wasn't any fun. This gesture by Stardock has somewhat restored my faith in them as a developer. I'm still upset about them selling impulse to Gamestop though.
