A Detailed Explanation Of How The BSA Misleads With Piracy Stats
Your ignorance of basic economics is astounding. Your pathetic attempts to cloud the issues probably indicates a guilty conscience.
Yes software thieves might find options other than purchasing that software, so it might not be considered a full sale lost, but the direct costs are lost and lost profit is certainly a lost opportunity cost. The thieves might steal yet another company's software instead if they thought they had to pay. What difference does it make? Losses are real and felt.
While, yes, the thieves might become so enamored with stolen software that they might elect to buy it later, but reconsider their burden on support resources, presumably stolen too. Stolen software will also lead to increased security costs, from shrink-wrap to lowJack. Government resources brought to fight the crime could be put to better use, and must also be considered a cost to the company and to all of us in increased taxes. Nit pick all you want but when someone steals an item or an idea to use it or not, it is equitable to put that loss on the books. Under just what ethical paradigm can theft be no big deal?
Severe criminal penalties for attempting to copyright or patent ideas not your own should be instituted. Otherwise this is all just a game for con artists like you who think that companies making profits in their lawful businesses can somehow be considered obscene.
Do J.R.R. Tolkien's Kids Deserve Money For The Lord Of The Rings Movies?
I re-wrote the story a little for LOR, planned for all at one time live action shooting, and green-lit the funding of the project. I even contributed the 'cape pin' jewelry used to costume the lead actors. I got nothing. It only seems right that J.R.R.'s kids should also have their lives limited, be thrown onto welfare to sicken and die. Most of them are probably just English people anyway.
My dead brother-in-law was the last Grimm of the fairytale family. He died broke.
Why should this green earth perpetuate the genes of genius when there's so many more thieves of intellectual property who are obviously more deserving in the eyes of our court system?
Republicans aren't the only dishonest people in America, but they're the only ones who organize teams of criminals to assassinate or attempt to assassinate US presidents (e.g. JFK by plumber gang under Richard M. Nixon & G.H.W. Bush) (Ford & Regan by G.H.W. Bush), candidates for US president (RFK, George Wallace, MLK (attacked by plumbers under G.H.W. Bush again)), and break into people's homes and offices (plumbers under Nixon). They regularly fund organized cheating in American elections, skirting election law only needed because of republican cheating in the first place.
Republicans gang up and rape whole industries, like the savings and loan corporations, like Navy oil reserves, like strategic petroleum reserves, like insurance companies. Democrats don't say much because, well, there're just too many of 'em. We tried shooting them all and that didn't work, but it slowed them down in the 1860's & 1870's.
I elucidated the etiology of atherosclerosis, but no one would review the article or comment as to why it was rejected. Electrodeposition accounted for juxtaposition of crystals in plaques of substances with different temperatures of crystalization (at 98.6 degrees F, anyway), experimental results already published, deposits in turbulence, etc. Atherosclerosis kills 55% of Americans, more than from any other cause, obviously, so there is nothing more important than bringing out all the evidence, but no. Ten traditional journals on the subject rejected my article without comment or explanation.
So, SOMETHING has to be done or we will just have to wait for all the old imbeciles to die off, provided of course they don't choose their idiot sons to follow them.
But Wikipaedia is not the answer either. I authored the HOPE Scholarship proposal that became law and was emulated in 23 other US states, but generic Wikipaedians decided I had no standing to comment on my own creation. Can there be a more egregious example of ineptitude?
With the current system, at least some of my articles have been published, so something is better than nothing.
Statistical impossibilities have convinced many already that our election system has fallen prey to dirty tricks. Pressure builds with each set of republican miracle wins. But who knows? Poppy Bush shot JFK and nobody cares, maybe they'll just always get away with it? So what if the polls predict a Democratic landslide that mysteriously does not apear. It's worked out well for them so far with the Kennedy assassination, eh? Technically, W's a Kennedy, right? Perhaps it will all be a wash? I say do what you can and then just let God sort it out.
Here's the help the computer theif was looking for
Criminal behavior is a pheromone deficiency, easily remedied. Take any lipophilic vehicle food, I use new pieces of sugarless chewing gum, and wipe off the facial paternal pheromone from the shiny surfaces of a mature male "father-age" pheromone donor. (The pheromone is the greasy residue left on the mirror or plate glass after you push your nose on it and step back. Nearly 800 chemicals that mostly look just like butterfly pheromones, one unique in nature: sebaleic acid.) About 100 mg p.o. will give this computer-stealing criminal (or probably any criminal without organic brain damage) a new lease on life. Instantaneously, he/she will become crime free and begin a new life.
Side effects (there are always side effects): mainly, jealousy. If you sense a strange pheromone in the saliva of the person you are kissing you get jealous. Simple as that. Seems that intuition is chemoreception, huh?
Grand Old Party (GOP) derives from Grand Army of the Patomic (River--runs through the capital district between Virginia & Maryland). It reminds or reminded everyone that it was once perfectly legal to shoot republicans in more than half the country (1861-1872). Shooting republicans was even encouraged and facilitated by state and local governments back then.
Society cannot afford to advance by default by the physical deaths of holders of backward ideology! We can kill racism without killing all the racists. Think about this and think about the future. Because if we stop thinking about the future, if the future holds no more allure for us, if we ignore planning to make things better and give up on futurism, then the enemies of harmony and peace will hold sway in times to come merely for their pleasure in holding power over us.
Remember Watergate? Iran-Contra? Republicans organize front companies to hack elections, deny voting rights, and disrupt Democratic campaigns by intimidating contributors, assaulting campaign workers, and commiting petty vandalisms. (All our tires seem to go flat right the afternoon of the big fundraiser.)
Democrats recognize that we need electronic voting, we need the potential improvement in accuracy, lower costs, and all the good things that improving technology can provide. We cannot afford to fund counter-terrorists. We depend on volunteers and honest individuals to alert the police to criminal behavior, and we depend on prayer that God may save our nation from the depravity and depravations of the serial killers (Bush, Sr.) and serial rapists (Bush, Jr.) and their henchmen running the republican party in America.
Anyone who obtains a patent for someone else's idea should go to jail, especially if the theif is a patent attorney. Lawyers filing patents or copyrights for fradulant claimants should be heavily fined. The same jailing of frauds should hold for songwriters, lyricists, screenwriters & authors as well.
Want to know why Star Wars is stopping at 6 flicks? Why the blockbuster train has slowed down? I wrote the stories for 20 of the top 25 best box office films of all time, but I'm not doing them anymore. I got one buck for the cave saxophone solo in Dead Poets Society (which started out on the flute), not a single cent for Titanic, Sixth Sense, Beautiful Mind, V for Vendetta, Matrix 1 & 2, Eternal Sunshine, Lost in Translation, E.T., Schindler's List, zip, zero, nada, ziltch. Not only do I not get paid, they even give oscars to the frauds!
Three times I've created new inventions, all three stolen--by different people! One was purloined by the University of South Florida's Medical School! But here's your worst nightmare: I've figured out what causes perversion, delinquency, crime, too, and I can fix all of these afflictions for everyone, but I've stopped with helping my family and friends. The rest of you will suffer and die needlessly. At least there is justice in that.
My personal circumstances illustrate my point (although some simple person who cannot imagine being creative (a lawyer? oder lawyer-lite) will inevitably ridicule me for them). Our patent/copyright system does nothing for justice. Innovators are exploited, not rewarded. Exploitation and reporting by untalented hacks is rewarded. The entire system could just be scrapped, we could all just run around and persecute each other like silly-ass red Chinese bureaucrats and justice will be as well off.
The fact of the matter is that paying for innovation can also be deliterious to creativity. Vincent never made a penny AND lost an ear, eh? Staying broke and downtrodden, fighting against tall odds, not having a chance in the whole wide world, that's how one figures out how George H.W. Bush shot JFK over him boinkin' Barbara & siring George W. Bush-Kennedy.
We both should patient (sic) illiteracy, eh? So test it yourself why don't you? You probably have relatives rotting in jail somewhere, don't you? The more than 700 pheromonal chemicals in human face grease work synergistically and species-specifically. The grease on your face has individual specific concentrations of the bioactive components and consistent concentration ratios, known to be biologically detectable, vary anatomically. Different kisses for different biological purposes.
Scientists today must remain shackled to massive institutions with expectations of loyalty. Hardly a world of invention and progress with 99.99% of humanity shut out, eh?
If you take the grease off of a man's face and give it to his misbehaving son or daughter, goodbye to their juvenile delinquency. 100 mg p.o. for first effect. Too much and they want to be president. Jealousy is the main side effect. The mouth-kissing partner of the brat gets suspicious--even homocidal, so watch out. Wine's ethanol cuts the sebaleic acid (and the other more common free fatty acids, alcohols, etc. in human facial sebum), so a little swig after taking the pheromone helps remove those tell-tale traces from the brat's mouth. Intuition is a chemosense. Give a boy too much of his mom's facial secretion without Dad's antidote around and the well-behaved boy likes boys instead of girls. Pheromones regulate human fertility, just like they do in little animals. Pheromones or deficiency of pheromones cause virtually all human illness, including mental illness (e.g. Anorexia Nervosa, depression, child abuse, schizophrenia, mania, etc.), sociopathy (crime, delinquency, apathy, divorce, apathy, etc.), autoimmune disease (diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, MS), most birth defects (Bruce effect = blighted ovum, stillbirth, spina bifida, etc.), most infectious disease (pheromones are why some people die and others have no reaction to pathogen exposures), and cancer. Aspirin, quinine, taxol are all semiochemicals and have beneficial effects for that reason.
Yale is certainly no laughingstock. Biostatistics are unnecessary for managerial analysis. The last ICU monitors that used anything close to cell phone frequencies were made in the fifties. None continue in use in 2006. Even the ghetto and Indian reservation hospitals have worn them out, finally. Pagers are universal in American hospitals, nobody cares about pager emf. Quiet zones like reading rooms, movie theaters, and some hospital areas may still ban non-staff cell phones ringers and/or conversations, something that can be accomplished electronically, to further healing. Hospital telephones are fomites, anyway, and would reduce nosicomial illness and save lives if they were reduced or eliminated. Physicians spend entirely too much time tracking each other down playing pager tag. Twenty minute delays are common, as are non-contacts altogether. Cell phones have decent screens now, and the cameras are getting better, too. These, along with computers, are useful tools that physicians should make use of. Even today, most patient charts are hand-written merely to frustrate the ambulance chasers. Cellular transmission of encrypted patient data among physicians would extend the benefit of medical expertise, decrease costs & physician distress, and improve patient care.
If you file a patent for someone else's idea, you should be suffer criminal punishment. Our patent office is a playground for malicious thieves. Jail, even execution would be fair and just for some egregious perpetrators.
Black boxes fail as ballot boxes, always. The ballot box must ever be transparent. This is obvious enough even for the obtuse David Manns and Jamies of this world. If Florida election officials were less concerned about getting the son of a JFK assassin elected US Senator and more worried about the danger of robbing their fellow Americans of their free voice, perhaps transparency might be more in evidence in Florida’s various election deception devices.
A paternal pheromone deficiency causes criminal appetites it appears to me. Humanity has had criminality since Cain slew Able due to differential parental solicitude of offspring. Video games, and television viewing for that matter, have arrived only recently. The judges are wise to find the bans unconstitutional, given the legislative flawed premise.
