I think Re-Transmition Fee's are a big scam that shouldn't be allowed. These Broadcast channels are FREE with a Antenna. They make money from the Ad's on their own channels. The Cable company's are doing them a favor and getting their channel out to more people to watch those commercials and make more money per ad.
I had enough of it all and Cut the Cord after paying Comcast for a number of years for TV service. All I pay for now is Internet and Netflix. I get all my Broadcast TV with a Antenna and use a TIVO to record it all. Then I SKIP all their commercials and it doesn't cost me a penny and 100% legal.
Once in a while I see the dumb banner scrolling complaining how there's a blackout on DirectTV or Comcast for such and such channel and I just laugh. All this does is get more people to cut the cord and/or pirate. Keep it up and you'll have no one left to pay.
Quite frankly I think Cable Company's should just completely stop having Broadcast Channels on their service. Maybe have some type of service. They'll install a Antenna for you, you just have to be signed up for 1 year or something to cover the cost. Have a Antenna input in the Cable Box that will record all the broadcast channels, along with the cable channels. Now no one is paying Re-Transmition fee's!!! See how they like that. It would be 100% legal. Each house has their own antenna and DVR.
I hate to say this,.. I'd rather have Hillary to Bernie, and that's just really, really , really,..hard to say. Look what you made me have to say. How about no thanks to either of those crazy's.
Yes, Lead screens are a god thing to be using went taking X-Rays because it's a known fact that to much exposure can KILL YOU!!! Especially if you're the person taking them all day long on other people. That has NOTHING to do with Wifi.
Yes, Power OFF on a Cell Tower before working is also the smart move. Point blank range right next to something outputting a lot of power may not be good for you, let alone the risk of Electrical shock from all the high voltage. Again, NOTHING to do with Wifi.
Wifi is really using very low power. You're getting beamed by much more powerful AM/FM radio signals then what you're getting from Wifi!!! These so called Sensitive people should be going out of their mind most of the time because of AM/FM/ Satellite like SiriusXM Radio, etc all blasting thought everyone's environment, that's much stronger then Wifi.
Again, if they're so sensitive, why can't even 1 person pass a double blind test? That should be easy!!!
I'm a fan of Craigslist. I've used it a number of times to buy and sell things. No prostitution involved!!! I've gotten things from a Jetski Trailer to a few days ago a 42mm Apple Watch. My Dad is currently selling a number of items.
The great thing is it's all FREE. There's for FEE's. You don't have to worry about shipping. Selling large items like a Jetski trailer is much simpler. You can check out the item FIRST, in person and make sure it's what you expected before paying. I generally like to me inside a Public place to do any transactions if possible. You just have to be smart about things.
I cut the cord around 5 years ago I guess. I hated getting that $170 a month Cable bill. For what? Mid speed Internet service at the time which is a fraction of the speed I have now, and a duel HD DVR cable Box. Of course you can't get the CHEAPER cable bundle because the few channels you actually want are only on the big expensive channel packages. I had already cut Showtime because of the raising prices.
I'm not a sports person. I don't give a crap about ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, what Fox Sports and so on and so on. Those are all the most expensive costing channels that only a small group of people really care about. I get more then enough sports from the Broadcast channels, which are FREE with a Antenna. The whole Retransmition FEE that Cable company's pay, which are also getting costly I have issues with. It should be FREE. It's free with a Antenna, and yet, just to give some a better picture because they may have a weak single or don't want to put up a antenna, you gouge the cable company's. As far as I'm concerned, they're doing these company's a favor. Getting more people to watch their shows and Commercials that they are also getting paid for.
After having U-Verse for a while for Internet only, until they jacked rates up, I went back to Comcast for Internet only and currently pay $50 a month. I use a Large Antenna and get all the broadcast channels for free Legally, which I can record with my Tivo and even stream online for free. With Netflix, I'm pretty much covered. I still have to much content to watch!!!!
I sure don't miss ESPN. Monday Night Football? Oh well!!! $120 a month at old rate prices I'm saving. Money staying in my pocket and not going to Comcast. I had Netflix before I cut the cord and so I don't consider it a extra cost. $120 a month is $1,440 per year in savings. In 10 years, that's $14,400. how many years have you had cable and plan to continue? 10 years is not a long time sucking the teat of Comcast. Why give it to them for mostly crap!!!
Now if you cut the cord and then sign up for everything under the rainbow, you're not saving money. HULU, YUCK! You start signing up for Netflix, Hulu+(Which you can get a lot of content for FREE with HULU, there are ways!!!) SlingTV, HBO Now, etc. You won't be saving anything. Say your a huge fan of Game of Thrones. Why pay $15 a month or $180 just to get that? Wait for the season to be over. Sign up for a month to HBO Now, Binge watch the whole season and anything else and then Cancel when the month is up!!! Now you just watched a whole season for $15, see you once again next year!!! If all you watch is HBO, then maybe $15 a month is a good deal for you.
Ya, Channel surfing. That's avoiding watching commercials on TV. They wised up when most would have their commercials at the same time, so no matter where you went, there were commercials playing. Then came the VHS player, where you could skip. Mine had a Auto Skip feature. It would record, then rewind and go though and mark where the commercials were and then when i played it, it would Auto Skip them. Then came the DVR and I was a early adopter of TIVO, back then in 1999.
Still you didn't go to CBS, and when you were done, go to NBC and have CBS still tracking you!!! That's what's going on with the Internet these days. The tracking I hate the worse. The Amazon Ads of something I may have looked at on Amazon, showing up on half the places I visit, really annoying!!! The Pop up's blocking what you're trying to read with a delay before you can click them off.
I don't have a problem with Resonable Ad's. There's a few sights I've whitelisted. The problem is a Ton of Ad's. Big Windows that pop up, block everything and pain to remove. The Tracking of a user form place to place after they leave. What does that have to do with showing a Ad to a person?
Who does me looking at something on Amazon, I'm now seeing at have the places I visited? If I wanted it, I would have already gotten it when i was actually at Amazon. When you make a person Web browser have to grab content from 50 different places just to show your page, no thanks, Block, Bloc, Block!!!
The fact is they did it to themselves. You know how many places your Web browser is going to just to display a web page? A crapload of them. Then when you leave, tracking where you're going off to. No thanks.
What do you think a DVR does for TV? Skip Commercials. 100% legal to do. Guess what, other ways were found to help make money like Product Placement directly into the programming. Every time I see the Surface Whipped out once again in a TV show, that's Product placement.
Don't like the Ad blockers on your site, Block them. In can be done. You're problem is solved. No more free loaders, right!!! I've moved onto somewhere else and so no longer your freeloader. Have at it.
They are? Based on what? You not liking the prices? Apple can charge anything they want like any other company. Supply and Demand. Just because making Android phones makes you zero money when Apple is making over 90% of the Smartphone profits and everyone else raced to the bottom fighting it out and are now not making money is not Apple's fault. Android is a Commodity now. My iPhone will hold it's value far great and when I upgrade, get far more for it then any Android phone.
My Ad-Blockers aren't going anywhere!!! You can block your site if you want. Be like Yahoo for all I care. I will just stop going to that site. Lots of others around.
I'll whitelist sites for those places that Limit the Ad's and other crap to something reasonable. Using Ghostery, I can block specific stuff on each web site. Allow only some of it and not the other garbage.
What I don't get is why this old, corrupt HAG keeps getting elected!!! I've not voted for her once. This is the main problem we have in Government. These people stay in Office forever getting rich leaching on the public. Of course they'll never vote to give themselves term limits. Would never make it in the real world under all the laws they create that kill jobs. Sky needs to be booted from office, but I'm afraid she'll be there until the day she dies.
The more they keep jacking up rates like this, the more people will flee! I cut the cord 3-4 years ago. All I pay for these days is Internet service.
The whole retransmition fee's thing is a load of crap. Why cable company's have to pay to send people a better signal in some cases that's FREE with a antenna. It's no different. They still get money form their Ad's. I just don't get it. Myself, first thing I did when I got my house and throw up a nice large Antenna on the roof, get all my ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, PBS in HD and 5.1 surround and the picture is better then cable, and better yet then satellite. Plus all the other FREE channels like MeTV, and AntennaTV, etc. Lots of Movies and older TV series that are still good and maybe new to you if you never watch them.
With my Tivo Roamio I got a few months back for $299 which included Lifetime service. (The new BOLT is just crazy high) I can record up to 4 programs at once. I can watch in my other rooms on Tivo Mini's that stream it from the Roamio. I can FF though all the commercials and with the Tivo Stream Box, I can stream that content to my iOS devices at home or away on the internet for FREE. All 100% LEGAL!!!
Throw in Netflix, which is really all you need, and you have a ton of content. Lots of Original Content on Netflix and a ton coming in 2016. Like Game of Thrones on HBO, wait for the season to be over and Sign up for a month with HBO Now at $15 and binge watch the whole season and anything else for that month and it'll only cost you that $15, and not $180 for a year!!! These are the things to do to save move. Keep it in your own pocket, don't give it all to Comcast of all places.
I used to pay Comcast $170 a year for HD TV service with a dual HD DVR Tuner and so so Internet service. That's it. 1 TV, only me at the time. Now I'm currently paying Comcast $50 a month for 105Mbps service which is like 5 times the speed I used to have before canceling them and going U-Verse. That's $120 a month savings. I had Netflix before I cut the cord so I don't consider that a extra cost.
$120, maybe that doesn't sound like much to you? That's $1,440 in 1 year. How long to people keep cable? YEARS? If prices didn't go up, in a short 10 years, that's $14,400 given away to Comcast and for what? Mostly crap channels you don't want but are forced to get because that 1 channel is only in that big channel bundle!!!
If you just have to have Sports, Sign up for SlingTV at $20 a month for the first bundle and ESPN is included. There's your Monday Night Football or whatever if you need it. I get enough Sports on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, whatever.
This whole campaign is just a load of crap!!! For one thing most people these days are just streaming music!!! I started doing that a number of years ago and it's really been catching on. You're NOT pirating music when you're using a service to stream to you music!!! I know when I started doing that, that there was no need to buy CD's, or buy MP3's or even pirate music. It's pretty pointless. This whole campaign is just pointless. They seem to be just doing this crap to make it look like they're doing something to make it look like all that money they're stealing from the artists is going to something worthwhile.
I believe this study 100%. I won't mention Illegal, but I PAY for Games I play!!! You should see my DVD, HD DVD, and Blue Ray collection, close to 1000 discs, start doing the math on that!!! I even go out to the movies around 8 times a month. Well I pay $35 a month for a MoviePass subscription. I was paying for SiriusXM radio, but i also pay for Amazon Prime which includes Music.
You can only squeeze so much from a person. If I have to pay here, I'll cut there.
Yes, GOLD has been of a great value and used as currency around the world for thousands of years!!!
The paper crap we have is only worth what the Government wants to let it be worth.
Put it this way, back when there was a GOld standard in the U.S. You could put your money in the bank and leave it there and have enough to retire and live on!!! Because Inflation was SLOW and interest rates in the banks were much higher. Money was worth more. The problem was the Government wanted to spend a whole lot more money and the only way to do that was to get off the gold standard. They've been busy printing up money like crazy and de-valuing the dollar!!! That's all they've been doing while Obama has been in office, is a out of control printing press. Why is Wall Street rolling in money? it's all the MONEY being printed and thrown around. Even though the Economy has sucked!!!
People these days just have no idea how it was before getting off the Gold Standard.
I cut the cord over 3 years ago and haven't looked back! I had Comcast for around 18 years paying for CableTV first until they finally offered Internet service and I got that. But with prices going up, up, up and nothing left to cut, I had enough. I don't want or need 100+ channels,m but to get that 1 channel yo want, you end up having to get the Big channel package and they know it and set it up this way.
I had enough of that. When I got my house I got U-Verse for Internet only and threw up a large Antenna for my TV. The price has since jumped up way to much for the speed I was getting so I just switched back to Comcast for Internet ONLY. Most of my TV I get from the Antenna. Most in HD and 5.1 surround. I just switched from Media center setup to a TiVo Roamio and Tivo Mini's because media center is going away in Windows 10.
This allows me to watch programs when I want to watch them and allows me to skip commercials. I can start watching in one room and continue in another. It's a great setup with the Tivo units. For the few shows I miss like AMC's "The Walking Dead" I can get a season pass in SD which is good enough for my needs and watch the new episodes the day after they air and commercial free. A few season passes is a drop in the bucket of my savings. Netflix and Amazon Prime I had for a long time including when I was paying for CableTV, so I don't really consider them a extra expense. Lots of great content on Netflix. The original programming is great. Lots of good shows if you just spend a little time looking around.
