The problem is the "TM" because it shows that she is claiming ownership over the word itself. No other book title uses that. Seen a John Grisham novel titled The Rainmaker(tm) lately? No, because it is ludicrous to trademark a common word. Just ask Microsoft (Windows) or Apple (App Store) how well that went.
So let me try. I've very recently heard that Author Solutions Inc. essentially scams participating authors by not providing an accurate accounting of the number of books sold and by providing highly technical services like 'uploading' and 'registering' at a grossly inflated price. In my opinion, this makes Author Solutions Inc. (and people who work for them like Eric Emlinger) a large group of asshats.
Phew, so now I'm engaged in racketeering now? Great! I've been needing to restring my racquetball racket for some time now.
That lets you collect monies on behalf of the copyright owner when infringing content is discovered, even if you have had no prior contact with the owner. Of course, it might be spectacularly amusing for someone to identify the original owners of these random images (or first identifiable posting) and let them know about of this free money just waiting for them. Because you know, I'm absolutely certain the trolls are giving all of the money they collect to the owners. Hmm, might even be a lawsuit there somewhere against CEG.
How Mercury Phoenix Trust has a leg to stand on here. Unless they are the executor of Freddy's estate then I don't see how they have any rights whatsoever. Even if they are the executor, then how can one claim protection for an outfit?
Mr. That Anonymous Coward, if in fact that IS your real name, where were you at 8:00 PM on the 1st of March 1932 and what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
You weren't SUPPOSED to put his two statements next to each other
"But but *sputter* You mean that the two different information channels BOTH reached the public? No no no, that's not right at all. The 'gut wrenching' stuff was for the Grand Jury!" Clapper, J. June 10, 2013
Also, on an unrelated note. Adding an 'e' at the end of Grand makes the 'Grande Jury' seem all old timey and less intimidating, like 'ice cream shoppe' - so Snowden has got that going for him.
Brian Burke was fired for being a crappy GM. Also, I heard Brian Burke was fired for wearing dresses at practice and pretending to be a pretty ballerina.
But mostly because the Leafs sucked under his mis-leadership (true statement). He couldn't even manage to pull off a winning season last year (true statement).
...the native advertising. Most of it is noise since I'm unlikely to make life decisions based upon an advert or blipvert (for those of you old enough to get the ref).
I do wish the poppy-uppy thing at the bottom would allow me to open the link in a new tab, since I'm usually not done reading the page I was on when it pops up.
But really, just more of the same from our government. Problem is, we are just continuing the policies of previous administrations because the civilian employees making these decisions never get shuffled out due to seniority, a perceived ability to 'do the job', and union contracts.
What I wouldn't give to see a purge in DC... maybe then we could have some real discussions about what is right for the country (in the best interests of the CITIZENS instead of the lobbyists).
Agree with the majority of the comments here. This makes good sense for many companies, especially when employee machines have access to sensitive information and many some email clients automatically render attachments and active elements.
Speaking as someone who was oversees being shot at (sort of)
MiM can bite me. I was over there defending our country and *this* is their contribution? Put up or shut up, Morality in Media. How many of you have fought for our country or signed up for other full-time public service? If your contribution to this world is to sit back and sling road apples at other people perhaps it is time to take a long hard look at yourselves.
I heard that someone said "OISE and the TDSB need to be purged, or burnt to the ground"
Dear Toronto Police Services officers; please to bring a dozen donuts and a cup of coffee when you leave your country to interview me. Grab some of that sweet sweet Quebecois maple syrup on the way past, too, please.
When I read the title I was *SO* hoping that Techdirt was included in the list. Maybe if we push it along a bit...
Paul Duffy's action make him sound like an asshat.
That oughta do it. I really want to see what he plans to do with the list, given that he does not appear to have requested the text of the comments. Asshat.
