Trolls like that can be kind of annoying, but wow, how stupid do you have to be to go after a troll like that? Live tweeting your search for the troll seems like good way to hasten departure from this world.
Think of how it would go for the troll if he just sat and waited for this boxer to come pounding down the door. He could shoot the guy and easily claim self defense using the boxers own tweets as proof.
"Stating that it cannot be played offline because the simulations are too heavy for a PC is complete bullshit."
Well that should come across as obvious bull shit to anyone who knows about computers. Is EA really saying they are going to setup super computers to run their game for everyone? That is insane path to take. They have to then maintain lots of very powerful servers.
This game is doomed just because of the cost to EA of running all that. In a few years they will pull the plug on servers due to high cost of running them.
Yeah, sad thing is it seems like the US is trying to set a speed record on that cycle. We came from nothing to most powerful nation in the world in an amazingly short span of time and are spiraling down just as fast.
Is it just me that looks at this a realized that they have also doomed the game already? You see, what happens in a few years when they get tired of paying the cost of running these servers? EA turns off the servers and now the game is gone.
That alone is enough to stop me from buying. I have games from the 80s that I still play. In fact I think I have the original sim city somewhere and I can still play it if I feel like it. This new one? You can only play for as long as EA feels like letting you......
" I have yet to see anyone (other than our trolls and the usual maximalists in the industry) arguing that it's fair to extradite him"
What I find really sad is that from what I know of Kim Dotcom, I would bet he really has broken laws he should stand accountable for.
Having said that though, I do not think he should be extradited because the DOJ can't present a solid case and instead have botched up just about everything they could. They have used excessive force, tried to destroy evidence, and even tried preventing him from having legal counsel. So they managed to go after what should have been easy case, and managed to make Kim look like a saint next to how screwed up the DOJ is.
Re: So... To all pirates who think 6 Strikes can't work...
All I have to say is, Yikes, where did you learn about networking?
" a VPN will NOT help you: they're monitoring by both amount and TYPE of traffic, and as I've said torrenting is easily detected."
VPNs encrypt the traffic so the ISP cannot see what it is. That is the very point of a VPN and they are used WIDELY by businesses. So you can't block VPNs and you can't tell what is in a VPN. So how then is torrenting easily detectable?
Even moving on from that massive fail as to what the ISP can tell about VPNs. Torrenting is perfectly LEGAL. It is by far the best way to get Linux distributions. There are tons of legal torrents, so just "torrenting" is no cause to kill a connection.
Of course all that does not even begin to address your total epic fail about how the ISP can block people. Hijacks your browser? Really?
I fully agree with you on that point. Only thing I would add is to say that it is not just the copyright system. I really think the entire US legal system is due for a restart. The system has too many patches.
I look at it kind of like computer code. You start off making a program and as you find bugs you patch them and ratchet up the point numbers. After a while though you have to break down and work on V.2 where you rewrite all your code and clean it up.
Re: "marketing" to industry types means "get money in return", Mike.
"The only forum where "give away and pray" is taken seriously."
You know, it is kind of funny you should say that. There have actually been a few studies about this "give away and pray" method. A prime example is the common car wash as a fund raiser. You will actually make more money if you setup offering "free" car washes and asking for donations than if you try and charge a set price.
So anyone else find themselves wondering, Why would someone with the money to buy themselves a shiny satellite really care about a misdemeanor?
I mean I am sure a guy like Bill Gates is trembling in his boots. His multimillion dollar satellite broke a law and now he has a ticket for $200. Oh no....
Whats more, I'm sure this law will not apply to any government agency. So it is just hypocritical bullshit.
Well, if you think about it there is a good chance a doctor could get in trouble with copyright. After all, did he pay for that journal he flipped through seeing that new procedure?
I bet there are tons of life saving procedures locked up due to copyright. We just rarely hear about it because doctors tend to cough up the money and shrug it off as part of being a doctor.
Also thought I should point out that ONCE AGAIN they prove that all DRM does is hurt your actual customers. The pirate copies will have the spyware removed.
Yeah that really does remove the only big reason not to pirate doesn't it?
You know if you go to the store and buy a copy that your relatively safe in assuming their is no extra code hanging around. That is a huge advantage over pirating content.
Now they are going to make it so that pirating is even SAFER than buying? What genius thought this plan up?
Of course the most dangerous flaw in your logic is that they will not just go crazy an ban all fruit at that point. I mean, it is used in a video game and must be evil right?
See, this is exactly the kind of thing that has to be stopped. People going all crazy and thinking for themselves, coming up with different ways to say the same thing.... Its madness, it must be stopped!
Ok, so let me get this straight. In your twisted world innocent people get punished for crimes they did not commit, BUT YOUR FINE WITH THAT, because well.... that is part of having justice.
Just because their are flaws in the justice system does not mean we have to accept them. We have every right to complain when innocent people are punished. THAT IS NOT JUSTICE, and if it is happening then our JUSTICE system is broken and needs fixing.
