The only fitting end to this guys career would for him to be dragged out of his office and beaten to death by angry outlaw motorcycle gang members wielding 360 controllers.
you know how this went, absolutely none of the faculty or head office knew or cared about this but ol' "Wendy" needs to prove her worth in a MAN'S world. You go go girl.
I'm guessing Wendy sits home most nights with a bottle of Yellow Tail Shiraz and her adopted greyhound watching Lost reruns.....
One of the first titles to ship with the Original Xbox was a snowboarding game whose name escapes me. Instead of licensing popular tracks MS went with something like over 100 indie bands who contributed their music for free. It still remains one of my favorite soundtracks of any entertainment media (ie; movies, games etc). Maybe it wouldn't work for Rock Band/Guitar Hero (though I'd love to see an all indie RB/GH) but I'd love to see more game companies avail themselves of the current generation of indie music for more standard games.
right, like the guy who uses a free blog as a hobby is going to go through the expense of paying a large monthly fee and using up all their free time to code and maintain the site. Its also along this line of reason that TAM's "just sue them back" is so moronic.
How about this.....we put in place some true penalties for the cavalier use of DMCA notices.
oh, and we light all entertainment industry attorneys on fire.
His stance hasn't changed, he obviously consulted a lawyer who then pointed out that some of the language in his C&D was wrong. He's still standing firm on the fact that the request to stop using the term is a reasonable one.
Re: It's their product, they can do whatever they want
You just complain about their business strategy because they have a product that you want, but you aren't willing to pay for what they are asking.
and?
Its great you have the ethics and discipline to buy all your songs. it's unfortunate that people like yourself and record companies keep expecting people to suddenly feel guilty and start paying up at which point the industry will rise like the reborn phoenix.
It's never going to happen and the reason the industry keeps going down is they just haven't grasped that fact yet. The point being made is if they want to stay in business, then they'd better find a way to give people a reason to buy rather than expect everyone to play fair. Argue about "whats right" until your blue in the face. No one's listening.
The spiritual value of music is as high as its every been. The cash value of music is near zero.
The cracking groups could care less about the quality of the games they crack (though really high profile games like MW2 do carry a certain cache), its more of a race to see who cracks it first. The fact of the matter is that the DRM proposed a significant challenge.
Lastly, I'm NOT a fan of DRM at all, I'm just pointing out that some DRM software seems to be getting more sophisticated.
One thing I wanted to point out though is that another anti-piracy program, the Tages system, is having some effect. The recently released Avatar game took about 3+ weeks to crack. The result is that it brought the game through the critical early sell-through period without giving people the option of a pirated copy.

I imagine it's just an ass covering mechanism to placate corporate higher-ups.
that's exactly what it is. Is gives the false impression that the company is "doing something " in the eyes of shareholders. Also, there's many vendors who wont put the game on their shelves unless it has some kind of protection embedded.
C'mon, tell me it would be great to see a big black Tuskegee airman land after an epic air battle and climb out of his plane wearing a tutu holding a wand while having a cigar clenched between his teeth.
I was talking about buying meds like Benzodiazapines (Xanax, Valium, Ambien, etc), low grade painkillers containing Codeine, Tagamet etc and other "soft" RX meds that can be purchased online without a doctors prescription. Obviously it's highly illegal hence the possibility of DEA involvement. I've used such services in the past and trust me, its huge.
