Re:
I think I missed something there. You went too far back for a ranty exaggeration and not far enough back for hyperbole. Ranty exaggeration shouldn't really go back any farther than the 90s, since widespread Internet access didn't even happen until the late 80s early 90s and broadband was a pipe dream for pretty much everyone until the late 90s. Hyperbole really shouldn't be any later than the 1890s and carrier pigeons or the telegraph should be mentioned.
There's nothing Luddite about saying an older technology is better than a newer, as long as you can back it up with facts. Elitist, maybe, but again with good reason.
Try squishing a big, hairy spider with an ebook. See how well your ebook reads after you've dropped it in the toilet. Try lending one to a friend who comes by. Try trading a couple you've read for one you haven't.
No, for all their convenience, ebooks that you've licensed are still inferior to hardcopy books that you own.

Re: Break Out Of Jail => Life On The Run
You're looking at it from the wrong perspective. All it's really doing is keeping the hippies safely locked away where they won't annoy the rest of us quite as much.
I really don't care. I'll say it here and I'll tell them the same when I call to bitch at them for the first notice I receive: You're doing a great job of stimulating the anonymizing VPN industry but you're not going to stop anyone who stop anyone who is determined to share files.

Re: Re:
You have some valid points but monopolistic practices are more of an FTC than an FCC issue. I'd prefer the FCC not try to get involved in setting anti-trust policy; they're even less qualified than Congress.

Have to agree with Herp Derp here. If they were offering to lift the cap for select services outside their own network that would be one thing but they're not.
There are no Internet issues involved here at all since no traffic ever leaves or enters their network. It's essentially the same as saying to you or I that what we do with our LAN is anyone else's business.

Hit a nerve there did I? Sorry.
It does tend to grate on the nerves after a while, hearing how we badly we suck from every other nation all the time.
...but most shows that have truly global appeal do come from the US.
Fuck knows why. Most of the shows turned out here lately blow chunks. There's not a single one that can stack up against Dr. Who or even Misfits airing this year.

Which is where insane dictators really get their chance to shine. If the guy's batshit crazy, you can never tell if he's going to take the money or have you taken out and shot.

Stupidity is global. We yanks don't have a monopoly on it or even a majority share of the market.
