And you still miss - and avoid discussing - the main point of that paragraph. Let's not talk about the main issue - is this a valid form of censorship. Instead, let's talk about the broad versus narrow definition of censorship. Classic redirect.
And how many times has the DMCA been used to silence critics? I'm fairly certain that no where in bill that created the DMCA did it say one could use the DMCA to silence those that criticize your products, services or speech? But hey, keep your head in the sand.
You seem to be missing the point that the contentID system is unreliable. Yet, this is the kind of system the MPAA and the RIAA want in place. Public domain content be damned.
"Al Jazeera has claimed rights to “Work Pays America” (item 117), a 1936 film by the Works Progress Administration which we obtained from the FDR Presidential Library."
and this:
"Some music royalty collecting societies have claimed infringements in "silent movies".
Al Jazeera was launched on November 1, 1996. And how does a music collection agency claim an infringement on a silent movie?

How dare people price check? 15 years ago, my wife wanted to buy me a new aquarium with all the accessories and a stand as a birthday present. We went to a local family-owned store.
We jotted down some of the things she could get me including the price - she wanted to use her own earnings and wanted an idea of how much everything would cost.
A salesperson came over and asked us to not write down things. We told him what it was for, but he seemed to believe we working for the newly-opened PetsMart. We left and I haven't bought a single thing at that store and have never recommended it to a single person.
So the local people can take their "buy local" mantra and shove it up their ass.
After watching the Lessig @Google video, this all makes sense. You have a bunch of tech companies that are opposed to SOPA/PIPA buying, er, lobbying politicians. Supporters of SOPA/PIPA then spend even more money to buy, er, lobby politicians. Throw in something about reviewing this in 5 or so years and the 'lobbying' cycle continues ad nauseum until the Republic completely falls apart.
Actually, album sales increased when Napster showed up. When album sales began to fall, video sales began to increase. Could it be that people chose movies over music? You mean that music had competition from other entertainment options?
In the Province of Ontario, they may issue a temporary paper DL that you must use in conjunction with your expired plastic DL. They even put a sticker on the expired DL about the temporary DL.

As usual, you completely miss the point of that paragraph: having a "discussion on whether or not this form of censorship makes sense".
