Companies like WalMart have invested literally hundreds of millions of dollars into perfecting their distribution and retail methods, shaving margins, and working to assure that consumers get the products they want when they want, where they want, and at a price they can afford. That is all as a result of custom software paid for by the company.
So just because there are a thousand IT guys at WalMart you can count every one-legged-smoke-stained-tooth-hag door greeter/cart monkey as part of the "IP intensive" industry?

Re: Man...
And this wouldn't have happened if it were McCain, either? Just as governors, presidents, congressmen try to claim they 'created' so many jobs, Obama is claiming 'heavy' involvement...which was basically a 'Go ahead'. The intelligence agencies would have been working on and implementing the attack regardless of Obama's (or whatever White House puppet) involvement. His claim must be an appeal to the conservatives that he is tough on 'threats' to America. Liberals will never vote for anybody else because they are too brainwashed to see how much worse Obama has been than Bush.

Re: WEAPONS GRADE ENRICHED URANIUM
Has anyone forgotten that Iraq had a stockpile of WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION!!! That crazy Saddam Hussein was about to unleash a GLOBAL ATTACK on THE WORLD!!! We must send our troops to destroy Hussein, his armies, and spend billions of dollars we don't have, maybe kill some innocent civilians, and lose a few of our troops...OH WAIT!!! No WMD's. No threat. Our bad!

I beleive in democracy - but it's a two way street. Believing in democracy also includes respecting the laws that are passed, and working within the democratic system to change them if you don't like them.
Send Rosa Parks to the back of the bus!!! The Founding Fathers should have just bowed to the Crown!!! Sometimes bad laws need revolt.

Right. Google executives and employees are personally stealing pre-released digital movies from studios and uploading them to YouTube. Obviously complicit.

Re: Re: Re:
You're not suggesting that a judge's ruling is required to remove infringing content from YouTube? As you know, that's not how DMCA works.
Just because DMCA is an existing law doesn't mean it is right and isn't terrible. The DMCA takedown process is a tool that doesn't work all too well. Like most free people, Techdirt can criticize existing laws.

In his defense, he sounds like his experience is in a "tech support" role. So we can't know from this snippet if he doesn't use alternative forms of hardware/software. =]

Re:
When individuals don't pay the actual cost of health care then they don't care how much it costs. "Insurance covers it." or "The government picks up the tab." I won't shop around for the best price, what's the point? I pay the same price ($100 deductible) for the same procedure wherever I go regardless if it costs $14k at the specialist clinic or $6k at the hospital. What does the medical industry care if they can just jack up the price because government or insurance will pay for it all because consumers are ignorant of the true cost. Lack of competition allows for that, unfettered price hikes. That is why your health insurance premiums are skyrocketing.
