lol I just googled Evan Stone. Was not expecting those results ROFL. Apparently he has never googled himself or he would have changed or altered his name.
Just a heads up, googling Evan Stone will produce NSFW results.
Yes, but they don't have the power or authority to shut down websites owned by US companies. By seizing this website, we have ignored the sovereignty of Spain, effectively bullying them.
By your logic, if techdirt.com was declared illegal by the Spanish authorities, they could shut it down without a trial or anything. How is this right? What happened to due process? I really hope the Spanish authorities raise hell over this.
CenturyLink also plays unfair with its own customers. I have been an Embarq customer for 5 years now and have DSL through them. When I set up my Embarq account they told me I needed to have a landline in order to get DSL. They now offer a landline-free package for a lot less, but I am unable to get it. The only reason they have given is that 'my location does not qualify'. They give no other details. I would welcome competition in my area.
Wow, utter fail. I have been able to re-establish friendships with people I haven't seen in up to 20 years because of Facebook! It's been an incredible resource for me and others. Facebook has done more for me in the past year than any church has done in my whole life.
What if someone like Anonymous or another massive group of people decided to sue the RIAA or MPAA in small claims court on or near the same date? If several thousand lawsuits were started wouldn't they have to be present at each and every one or risk a default in the plaintiffs favor?
If 5000 people sued the RIAA in small claims court because of emotional distress or some other made up thing, and all the court dates were in the same week, wouldn't that put a massive strain on the RIAA's resources?
I am not sure what you could sue for but if you don't show up for the suit you lose...right?
If you want to use the phrase, you can do so by asking permission...

Maybe it's time for everyone on the Internet to send her an email asking permission to use the phrase on a random blog or twitter...
Just liek shoplifting! Except you still are on the hook for legal fees!
Hunty, the whole point of these scams is that the RIAA/MPAA or whoever sends out a letter claiming you infringed on copyrighted material to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars, but they are willig to settle for say a few thousand. Many people take the cheap way out and pony up the amount indicated in the settlement offer. Some innocents try to defend themselves. Many of those people that have successfully defended themselves and proved themselves not guilty of the crimes they were accused of are still on the hook for legal fees. How can that be justified?

That's a pretty funny quote considering that Apple 'stole' the user interface it used on its ipods from Creative Labs.
