Your comment regarding America's belief in the free market might be accurate, if it was a truly free market causing the issues. As has been noted here many times, the problem is that our "free" market has been legislated into a money generating machine for a number of industries through the use of patents and copyright. There is very little of the free market left. Too many organizations control areas so tightly that there is little, if any competition.
My guess is the ship would reach harbor and not be allowed to unload. Interdiction of a vessel for reasons as mentioned here (ie. denial of trade in time of peace, with a trading partner no less) would constitute a violation of international maritime law.
I avoided facebook for a long time. I just had no desire to utilize it. Recently I did set up an account and, as a result, have "met" a number of people who I otherwise would not have. We have had discussions ranging from the inane all the way through thought provoking discussions about politics and world events. I don't think its fair to say its all meaningless drivel. While there certainly is a lot of drivel, if you connect with the right people, it can be quite informative and interesting.
That's an interesting choice of words. In all the years of using US software I have never had a single CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-R/DVD-RW drive fail. I've burned coasters, but not in the last 10 years or so. Please explain how US software makes "your hardware unable to Use the things..."
"The other issue is that no matter how good the product is today, they won't buy it tomorrow, but will expect something even better tomorrow, the day after, they will refuse to pay for that as well."
And since the whole intent of copyright was to give a Limited Time monopoly, after which the material would become PUBLIC DOMAIN and be free, what exactly is your point
Maybe I missed something. I was under the impression that things that are developed by the government could not be placed under copyright as they already belong to the people.
Exposure is the key, because when someone hears something they do like, they tell two friends, who tell two friends, who tell two friends. Boom! Critical Mass in nothing flat. Your problem seems to be that you underestimate the average person.
And the rest of the country has exactly what financial security based on their jobs? Why don't you explain to the thousands of people who lost their jobs in the last year why we should be so concerned about the job security of any sports figure making these obnoxiously large salaries.
While you are correct, each and every American is covered by the 4th amendment, and in this case, while TAM misspoke (not unusual), I believe that was the intention of his statement.
There's that word.....could. It COULD do this, or it COULD do that, but what DOES it do. I COULD sneak over in the middle of the night and raporize you, does that mean I should be immediately arrested? If you can prove harm then there should be no penalty.
The diamonds you're talking about on trucks are not part the NFPA codes. They're designated by the US DOT for hazardous materials. That said, the NFPA codes are, apparently, covered under copyright by the National Fire Protection Association. According to the information on Wikipedia, and my own experience, anyone can access the info via the web, you just can't produce digital or hard copies.
Actually bleeding out of the left arm would not be a CPT code. Bleeding out of the left arm is a diagnosis, that would be and ICD-9 code. The treatment provided to determine the diagnosis and to remedy the condition is what would be a CPT code. Apparently the ICD-9 codes are public domain, unlike the CPT codes.
Except my guess is that Google's lawyers are probably employed by Google and not an outside agency. In which case, if their going to be paid anyway, might as well make them earn their check.
Except for the fact that one of the key purposes of a judge is not to simply apply the law, but to interpret the law so that when applied they ensure justice is provided to the greatest extent to all parties involved.
So explain how a sale from a manufacturer to a wholesaler isn't, in fact, a sale. By your way of thinking, everything we buy is used because before we can buy it at retail it must be sold from the producer to the distributer.
