Curiously, Apple seems to have two faces, compared with Google. To the US and other Western governments, Apple is stern and steadfast. But to China, they're willing to accept a more submissive role to garner more market favor. Even when it was very clear that the Chinese government was behind a "man-in-the-middle" attack on iCloud, Tim Cook bent over and grabbed his ankles for China.
"Apple, like other Western internet titans that aim to ride China's rise as an economic superpower, is likely under tremendous pressure to tolerate these "organized network attacks" as part of the price of remaining in the Chinese market, he added... The only American internet giant to publicly renounce cooperating with China's censors so far has been Google, which also identified "the Chinese government or its agents" as being the masterminds of a sophisticated attack on Google's central servers."
I do like the convenience of the Keurig machines, and I think that, properly used, they can make a very good cup of coffee. I had one of the older machines (without DRM), and I used the Melita JavaJig cups. They are reusable, take inexpensive Melita paper filters, and my own freshly-ground coffee. I also used the Ekocups, another reusable cup for the Keurig machines but I preferred the Melita. Sadly, my Keurig machine gave up the ghost after 3 years of daily use. I chose not to buy another one, for now.
To get T-Mobile WiFi Calling, you must have a T-Mobile purchased phone. The WiFi Calling feature is built into the phone's ROM, it isn't just an app that can be installed onto any phone.
Isn't it a sad notion that, at this point, I believe statements from North Korea more than I believe the FBI of the United States? The FBI, a part of the DoJ, is trying to sell something to Congress and the American people. It's a con job that is rather despicable and craven.
If it walks, talks, and acts like a patent troll, then it is a patent troll. Rockstar is a patent troll, it was created to be a patent troll to keep the hands of Microsoft and Apple less dirty.
There are a few places, such as here on Techdirt, where reasonable conversations about the topic exist. I like to think it is because the typical viewer of Techdirt is just a bit more enlightened, perhaps? But sites like Yahoo News, or most standard news sites, actually, bring in the lowest, most vile people who have no tact or even a shred of common decency. From my casual observations, these people tend to be "conservative" or lean "GOP". Why? I don't know. I could posit theories, but it would only be my unscientific opinion.
I learned long ago to only venture down to the comment sections of news sites for entertainment purposes only. There is absolutely NOTHING of value there otherwise. Nothing. If Yahoo or other sites shut the comments down, there would be no loss to society.
Comment sections on news sites are some of the most vile and disgusting displays of inhumanity on the planet. And that's the ones with moderators! Look at Yahoo! News, or Huffington Post, or Washington Post. Total cesspools. Good riddance to them.
TPB wasn't hosting ANY files, especially none from Sony. There is absolutely nothing illegal on TPB servers. Of course, that doesn't stop the Gestapo/MPAA and its government brownshirts/minions.
If the cable industry is against it, then it must be good for the consumer. That's a fact you can count upon. PPI is such a bald-faced liar, and those defending it are the same.
When the defendant is a cop, there should be some special prosecutor to present the evidence to the grand jury. The current system is definitely broken because the police and the prosecutor's office are, essentially, on the same team. It's like investigating yourself and finding no fault.
Bravo to any news site that disables comments or directs them to some other social media like Facebook. Occasionally, I venture down to the comments on sites like Yahoo News and I'm immediately reminded why I usually avoid them. It is bad enough that my local newspaper's website comments are so god-awful I feel like I need a bath after seeing them. Except for sites that operate on the community comments (like Techdirt), just no. No comments. I applaud Reuters and Re/code!
Karma is finally visiting Dunham. It begs credulity that anyone ever thought she was talented or interesting. Her arrogant narcissism and misandry are disgusting enough, but now her admitted depraved abuse of her sister in yet another attention-whore performance is just beyond the pale.
Your "I know you are but what am I" childish retort only confirms to me that you're a immature person who is unwilling to accept the responsibilities of parenthood. You should not have had a child. You are the problem.
Yes, you are responsible for everything your child does while he/she is under your care. That's part of being a parent. If you're not willing to accept that, don't breed.
For the record, you're distorting this case for some reason. These parents in Georgia KNEW of the Facebook profile and yet did nothing for months. Their child had already been prosecuted for the offense. Efforts by the plaintiff to have the profile removed were ignored by the parents, so the only recourse was to sue them to get them to act. These claims that it is too difficult to get a profile deleted off Facebook are specious, at best. I guarantee their child knows how to remove a profile in less than 5 minutes.
Grow up and become a parent and stop abdicating YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.
