So, would you go to bed with me for a million dollars?
-Oh yeah, I would.
-Would you go to bed with me for a dollar?
-No way! What kind of a girl do you think I am?
-Oh, that's already been established, I'm just negotiating a price.

If Bradley Manning was released tomorrow, he'd probably have to be in therapy for years. Those bastards who tortured him, likely got a bonus or a promotion... Grrr.
..in an interview, he talked about that swatting incident:
He walked out to the SWAT team, showed them his ID, and said, "You may recall that I was over at your precinct a few weeks ago, and explained that I am a Internet Security Reporter and Researcher, and it's possible that at some time in the future, you may get a phone call reporting some incident that requires a SWAT team at my home..."

...7 billion people using two boil-bags per day, giving, say, 10 grams of polyethylene per person = 140 million kilos of plastic bags per day = 25.55 million tonnes of plastic per year.
Or an increase of roughly one tenth of ALL plastics production world wide. An increase of 10% of waste product.
The sooner this sous-vide trend can die, the better.

..one of their techniques, whenever some do-gooder published their advance and expensive books on the 'Net, they would: 1) drag the do-gooder to court, charging them with copyright violations; 2) claims that those weren't the real books anyway.

It's a particularly American thing to view the whole world as if it's the 'States. And, at the same time, to view the rest of the world as too foreign, too bizarre, so as to be unliveable...
A long time ago, as a kid, I recall the figurative slap in the face I got when Amnesty International called out the Canadian Government for the pre-trial jailing of some of the Séparatistes during the 'October Crisis' in 1970. The Government had to release them. I've never looked at my country the same since.
Hopefully, Mr. Weiwei's comments will have the same effect on enough American citizens, so as to effect change for the better.

Deafness doesn't mean silence, it means not hearing, or hearing poorly. Often, being deaf means noise - constant, 24 hour a day noise.
Tinnitus can make you deaf, hard of hearing. It can isolate you, wrapped in a blanket of noise.
