In short ... Title II of the telecommunications act covers the regulation of telecommunication services (like telephone) ... and the FCC has a lot of power under Title II to regulate providers. Internet service providers are currently classified as information services, not telecommunications providers, and are not subject to title II provisions.
Blackburn received $10,000 from the National Cable & Telecommunications Association this year and last year, according to OpenSecrets.org. She received $12,500 in contributions from Verizon, $10,000 from AT&T, $7,500 from Comcast, and $7,000 from representatives of Time Warner Cable. "gobbling up military-style equipment for god-knows-why. "
here's why ... simple economics. Homeland security makes this "surplus" military hardware available for cheap. When a small town police force has the choice of spending $56K on a new SUV it's tactical response team or $8K on a surplussed APC it's kind of a no-brainer which one they'll buy.
The data referenced in the linked article demonstrates that less than 3% of published articles refute AGW. That's not the same as 97% supporting AGW. 67% of the published articles expressed no position one way or the other.
Despite any conclusion the referenced article might draw, their own numbers don't support their conclusion.
A troll is someone who baits his audience without actually having any skin in the game, someone who doesn't have an opinion, but advocates the opposite position as provocatively and insultingly as he's able for the sake of his own entertainment.
I'm just saying that those who want the deal to succeed (whether you're paid to take that position or not) might just want to dial back the bullshit just a tad this time around. Frankly Karl ... I'd prefer you don't help them with you're editorial suggestions. The fuller of bullshit they are, the easier it is for the dumbasses to smell them and reject their "logic".
