What the hell are you talking about? The article says the community moderates itself. You don't like DH's sense of humor and/or sensibilities and you say he's part of the problem. So what? You're still allowed to post here. Please explain the problem.
Someone updated Senator Hutchison on the bill between the time Paul sent the EFF form and when I did:
Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the protection of intellectual property rights. I welcome your thoughts and comments on this issue.
I believe copyright protection is a foundation for innovation. Intellectual property, which covers industrial property and copyright, is the creative core of the information age. Patent and intellectual property ownership gives inventors and thinkers security in their work. It has the ability to motivate creative minds and spur growth.
Protecting content in a high-technology age is a new and daunting problem, and copyright protection is an important challenge as the broadband revolution offers even more far-reaching possibilities and opportunities. With new speed and interactivity, the entire store of movies, music, books, television and raw knowledge can be made widely available.
Copyright law must protect the best interests of consumers. Originators of a work should be secure that they have rights to the work they fashioned.
Should legislation regarding the protection of intellectual property rights come for consideration before the full Senate, you may be certain I will keep your views in mind. I appreciate hearing from you, and I hope that you will not hesitate to contact me on any issue that is important to you.
Sincerely,
Kay Bailey Hutchison
United States Senator
It's not illegal to drink. It is illegal to drink and drive. Same could be applied to most drugs that are illegal. And there are plenty of people driving around popping legally prescribed anti-depressants.
You'll have to do more work to prove to me that file sharing works against others. If someone shares a song/album with me that I like, I'm more inclined pay to see/hear the artist. If not, I'll never hear about them and they will never see my dollars.
"All they check for generally is the flight number and gate. Beyond that, they are not name matching the board pass to the person, they are by sight matching the person to the ID."
Completely untrue. I was drunk when I booked a flight and I used my nickname rather than the name on my drivers license. (Jake vs James) American Airlines didn't catch it at the counter and gave me the boarding pass. TSA wouldn't let me through security, even though I showed both where I had the credit card that purchased the flight. $150 name change to American Airlines and TSA let me fly.
Re: Re: Re: Imagine if this were written about Jews, blacks, Muslims or Latinos...
Hey... there are plenty of people that were raised in trailer parks that have a perfectly good sense of humor (and are well read, intelligent, good looking people). I can just about guarantee that Zacharias didn't grow up in a trailer park.
If the terrorists agenda is to strike terror into me, they've failed. They don't scare me a bit. If the TSA's agenda is to make transportation more secure, they've failed as well. There have been plenty of examples of people 'testing' the system and getting all manner of banned items past TSA, not to mention thefts of goods. If the TSA's agenda is to make me hate travel then they're doing a bang-up job.
