Smart meters don't need to update pricing, that's just dumb! They measure the electricity used. Your electric company takes that number that it gets from your smart meter and charges you the currant rate. If you're one that is setup to charge different rates depending on the hour, lower prices at night, higher prices during the day, it'll send that Data. In fact, if you look at your bill, it'll generally show you how much power you're using at each hour.
But like all things, you need 2 way communication. The smart meter is normally just doing what a meter reader would do. Send the current usage. Subtract last month number to the currant number and you get how much power was used.
2 way is so the meter knows the power company received it's data. It's also so they can turn on/off your power without someone coming in a truck and pulling the meter to kill your power. It's killing lots of jobs. It's all just done in the office.
I cut the cord about 6 years ago after paying for cable for 18 years. I couldn't justify it anymore. Currently I have a basic bundle which includes HBO because that was cheaper then Internet ONLY. I got a cheap TV Cable box I haven't hooked up because I'm still using my antenna. I get my HBO using the HBO Now App, though Comcast doesn't allow it to work on TIVO so I have to use it on the ROKU or AppleTV. Pretty lame of them. So I pay about $66 a month.
The only problem with this is you would be taking other people's stuff that the sheriff department had stolen!
These people should get a few million and those criminals tossed into jail for at least 10 years. What is this, CUBA? North Korea? This is completely ridiculous.
It's a bowl of Skittle's. Wouldn't it have been easy enough to just take your own picture. Then you don't have to worry about any copyright. It wouldn't have been that hard and cheap enough to do. As for music, do you really need any? Play some classical that's not under copyright. Unless you get in writing that you can legally use a song. In many of these cases, they do legally get the song and PAID for it's use, but the artist doesn't like it. Who gives a F about that! Playing fair by the rules and yet they cry like little baby's because their hate for the Republican party runs so deep to them. Cry me a river. It's almost worth just sticking to songs under no copyright. Then you don't hurt some poor artist feelings. Goo, goo, gaa, gaa.
If I was going to get a inkjet again, I'd get one of the Epson ones that don't use a cartridge, you fill it with a bottle of ink I guess and it lasts a long time. I destroyed a couple Epson printers with aftermarket ink. The first time I tried refilling the cartridges and resetting the chip on it to show full. It never printed good after that. The next one I just tried using after market ink cartridges and that ended up destroying that printer. The last one, I still have but haven't used in quite some time. Not since going laser, it has 6 cartridges and it seemed like I was always replacing those things. They were not that large, but at about $12 each and there's 6 of them, and I would only install Epson ones, it was pretty costly.
My Brother Laser Printer I have now, there's ZERO copy protection. There's no chip. There's a mechanical dial on the toner cartridge on the normal FULL ones. The Trial one that comes with the printer doesn't have it. But going aftermarket, you can get a cheap kit and turn that Trail toner unit into a full unit by swapping a few parts. This is also how you reset it, buy resetting the dial. Pull the plug, dump out any old toner that's left, and fill it up with the new aftermarket toner. It's toner designed for that Laser. It's simple to pop the plug and fill up, reset and away you go. Also since the Toner and the drum are 2 pieces that snap together, it's much cheaper in you have to replace one or the other at some point. It's not a whole big all in one unit.
The thing warms up fast and is printing away perfectly. It can sit for days on end and the first sheet that comes out is perfect. Color I can live without. If I want to print out some color photo's, I can just go to Costco online, and sent my pictures there to be printed out and then go pick them up locally all done and I think with better results and flexibility.
A Laser is really the only way to go these days. They're cheap enough now and not having to deal with Ink cartridges and head cleaning and always swapping cartridges makes it well worth it. Most of them also have CHIPS!!! So now you're having to get something to reset those. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that.
Don't throw Apple into the Microsoft/Google Mix. The Data collection is not even remotely the same. in fact Apple services suffer in ways because of Apple not collecting personal data from their users. Way over on the other end is Google, where all they do is collect personal data and spoon feeding you ad's. 2 completely different business models. Google makes most of their money from Google Search, Apple makes most of their money from selling Hardware.
Microsoft is in the middle, maybe since Windows 10 way closer on the Google side of the scale. They do have Bing after all, but Windows 10 is also doing a lot of spying o you. Yes, I'm using it to.
In general, the books being sold get a minor change every couple years so that people can't buy a USED book. Which increases Book sales and screwing over students.
Thrown in jail is wrong, but the rude person playing PokemonGo in a church should be thrown out on their butt!!! You get a big guy, grab the idiot, and throw his/her butt right out the door.
It's like all manners and brains go out the window playing this dumb game. It's one thing going to a park, but it's another doing it in a Church, or someone's Backyard, and other dumb places.
I used to pay Comcast $180 a month for HD Cable with a duel tuner DVR and a Mid speed Internet service and I had Netflix and Amazon Prime back then.
When i got my House I dropped the TV stuff, in fact I went with someone else for Internet as it was cheap. I also mounted up a nice large directional antenna for my TV.
These days, I use that Antenna for most of my TV programs. I'm getting ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, Fox, PBS all in HD and 5.1 surround. Along with channels like MeTV, AntennaTV, etc. I also have Netflix and Amazon Prime, but since I had them before cutting the cord, I really don't consider them a extra cost. Of course I use PLEX and have ripped most of my movies and put them on my NAS.
I already have no crap to watch then I have time. I have Comcast again and I had to get a Bundle with included HBO, which I don't have time to watch, some basic cable channels which I don't watch and I don't have a connection to my TV's for their TV service anyway. HBO I can use the HBOGo App. It was cheaper to get this dumb bundle them Internet only. This is how they're trying to keep people locked into some type of TV service instead of just being a dumb Internet pipe.
I still get most of my TV from the Antenna. All recorded with a Tivo Roamio. Where I can watch that content anywhere and skip all the commercials. If you're just going to sign up for every service under the sun, why cut the cord? One thing is for sure, I'll NEVER pay $6 or any amount for CBS All Access crap.
That's not a bad idea! Who still have a Betamax player? Plus copy's would be pretty bad. It's in SD resolution. Who wants to pirate that junk other then those that are happy with version from people taking a Camera into the theater which are pretty bad also.
Have no Online copy's, make sure each BetaMax copy is Watermarked so you can SUE the person that leaked the piss poor copy.
Once you get a Democrat in office, it's almost impossible to get them out. I'v never once voted for her. Who in the right mind would being the huge Criminal that she is, but in general, the only way to get rid of them is to die of old age. That old hag will be around forever.
So the guy got recorded while having sex? Was it some really kinky type of thing? I don't get why you would KILL YOURSELF over it? If anything, you'd go after the person recording you!!! What was so embarrassing that you killed yourself? Not like everyone else is not having sex and doing the same things.
There is any number of actions a person could have taken after being filmed and the person doing the filming, while a huge creep, didn't know suicide was going to be the end result. Throw his butt in jail for laws that cover the filming aspect. Really, there's so many laws, you can throw anyone in jail for something.
I'd like to point out that Hillary was FOR THE WAR before she was against the war!!! We already know what this lying sack of Clinton crap is about!!!!
I'm really not a fan of Trump, he's far from a Republican, but then again there's just so many RINO's in office already. He's going to say crazy things because it gets his name everywhere. Doesn't matter if it's negative. He's no politician where you say a whole lot of nothing. That at least I find refreshing. As usual, being in CA, I didn't vote for Trump and pick him as the Republican choice. Still, just about anyone is better the Clinton.
There's enough 3rd party open encryption you can install onto phones with no backdoor and not a single thing the U.S. Government can do to change that. 2/3rd of the encryption software made is made outside of the U.S. It's that way because of the U.S. Government!!!
Any backdoor the U.S. Government demands put in, also means other countries will want that same access and they would have to give it out. It's American citizen's that end up being screwed as your phones are hacked inside China, if it does need to be hacked ass the key to get into the phone gets passed around and around, I'm sure it'll leak at some point someplace.
I know I've never voted for that criminal!!! Once you get a Democrat into office, it's pretty much impossible to get them out unless they die of old age. Which that may happen in this case also.
I think if they try to expand into Western Markets, they're going to get their butts sued by everyone, especially Apple. They're nothing but thief's, which they can get away with in China, but that's not going to be as easy outside of China.
