Let people know what UHaul is really all about. There are lots of other places to rent trucks, like Home Depot and Penske. I even hear that some US vets are helping people move; that sounds like a worthy endeavor to support.
Also, I'd pitch in a few bucks to help challenge the USPTO decision on GoFundMe.
Actually, East Germany would be a more apt comparison
Given the Stasi's ability to co-opt nearly half of the population to spy on the other half (and each other).
Also, because I like pointing fingers, simply collating all of the data provided to the Stasi would have required vast amounts of computing power... almost like IBM selling computers to the Nazi regime.
At this point he's either a self-obsessed narcissistic idiot who can't give up his favorite toy or he is under some huge pressure to get it passed. I don't know if the pressure is from his boss The Orangeness or he's got some sweet moolah waiting for him when he retires if the deal is passed but his level of obstinacy is just weird. Rational people would pull back for a couple of weeks and at least pretend to 'study' the idea before moving forward on the same track.
When we go to The England in a couple of years. Of course, if I'm staying near one of them I might pop in to see if their hospitality is as atrocious as their legal advice, making sure to note any problems in loquacious reviews on as many platforms as I can find. Nice way to kill an afternoon in the pub, wot?
And yet with all of this monitoring and supra-surveillance powers they are unable to stop the endless parade of terrible events. They didn't stop Sunday's shooting, or last week's truck attack, or last month's shooting, etc. despite (apparently) many warning signs from all three individuals. You'd think they would be telling us about actual deranged individuals they intercepted (instead of those made-up plots where the Can't Shoot Straight gang needs a ride to the hardware store from the undercover agent or they bring their kid to the planning meeting because they couldn't find a babysitter).
Since I don't see it mentioned in this discussion why did you quote assaulting up in the Rivello/Eichenwald paragraph, Mike? The dude knew Eichenwald has epilepsy, intentionally constructed a tweet designed to cause a seizure, then sent it to Eichenwald. Rivello is guilty as hell of assault and I am certain he will be convicted. Here's why:
(copying highlights from the NYTimes here) Rivello wrote in that message “YOU DESERVE A SEIZURE FOR YOUR POSTS”. He also sent direct messages to other Twitter users about Mr. Eichenwald, including one that read, “I hope this sends him into a seizure.” and “I know he has epilepsy.” Investigators also found a screenshot on Rivello’s digital accounts Mr. Eichenwald’s Wikipedia page that had been altered to show a fake date of death of Dec. 16, 2016, the day after the strobe light attack.
Why is it that I support almost exactly 50% of what you write and I cannot stand 50% of what you write? What's up with that? Get your shit together and fully embrace the dark or light side; this waffling is weirding me out man. On this topic you are correct so you get my Insightful upvote.
Your reasoning is manifestly flawed. The problem here is that the police don't have to PROVE the vehicles were used for criminal activity and there is NO WAY for owners to contest the seizures. As another comment points out what is to stop them at just taking cars? There are too many pets, they crowd the park and the owners don't pick up after them so the state must confiscate pets. There are too many smartphones, they clog the cellular network and can spread malware so the state must confiscate smartphones.
The real question is if this dude has been getting kickbacks or quid pro quo from all of this. Seems like the local paper should look in to the finances of this public servant.
Why does a town of ~87,000 people need this type of policing?
I mean, maybe NY, NY or LA sure, but this is a podunk town (no offense) with only 38 sq. miles of land that shouldn't need full-time surveillance activities.
That she created and orchestrated the death of her career. Who would hire her now? Even worse, the YouTube and Twitch communities will occasionally call out talented musicians in their favorite games - thereby generating free press. Good luck with that now that she has alienated two whole groups of influencers.

This is why I've been coming to TD, and supporting it, since well before The Streisand Effect was coined (and I was in that thread on the day!).
