Just playing devil's advocate here:
Is it possible that the box office had a "record year" is that they've upped their prices again? Granted, because of that less people would go to the theater and with the shortened window would rather just wait it out and put the money towards the DVD/BR.
Depending on how the theaters raised their prices, they could have still made just as much money or more, but their attendance was actually less.
Does this mean Judge Milian on The People's Court has to pay licensing as well? She sang the same 4 words of that song on an episode earlier this week! I had just read this and when the wife and I watched the show, we both yelled "Pay up, judge!".
When I signed up early this year (after my 3mos free with the new vehicle), I didn't see a lifetime membership, otherwise I think I would have opted for it over the 3year subscription. I don't believe they can charge me more since I'm all paid up for that, though I will keep an eye on my cc statement and complain/quit if they do charge it!
I'll give the parents some kudos for at least trying to do something by blocking the access on the computer, but kids today have all sorts of ways to access the internet: Console games (XBOX/Wii/PS3), cell phones, iPods and portable games all can access the internet.
Does anybody remember reading about Flat Stanley? I remember reading the book in grade school, I'm 40, so yes it was back in the 70's. I just can't believe the story was "lost".
The first article failed to mention that the CarChip is first and foremost a diagnostic device. We don't have kids, but we bought one for the fact that it records ODBCII codes. We were having a problem with the "Check Engine" light coming on and having to pay $80+ each time to have it diagnosed was really cutting into the pocket book. The CarChip E/X was the one we bought and it cost $80. It had already saved us about $400 in diagnostic charges. If those parents just wanted to record their daughters driving habits, I'm sure there are much cheaper alternatives.
We were a Nielson family for about 2 years. We had 3 VCRs, 1 of which was a TV/VCR combo. We watch a LOT of TV and because of our setup the tech was basically out to our premises every other week for the first 2 months, trying to get the right data transmitted. We found out that what they tracked was when the channel was watched (we don't have cable/satellite/etc). So if we were recording 3 shows and watching a 4th, to their system, it looked as though we were watching 4 channels simulataneously. Then when we did actually watch those other tapes, the only thing their system saw was that were watching a tape rather than any TV. It didn't know whether that tape was a previously recorded show or a movie. I don't see why this would be any different with DVRs.

As for Dart, his detectives are conducting sting operations and making arrests.
Soooo... if they get CraigsList to stop the ads, what's going to happen to their sting operations?
The acts will still happen, but Dart won't know about them because they're not on CraigsList.
Go fig!
