There are a few things that came to mind here, I'll try to separate them in topics.
1- The right/left wing terminology. I don't think it's fit here. Maybe liberal vs conservative but even then the opposition to conservatives come from a wider spectrum that include progressive people that may lean left (again, it would be a very small minority in the US). This is up for debate but I thought it was worth mentioning.
2- It's known that younger people tend to hover along what opposes conservative thoughts. There are researches covering it. And younger people are generally more tech savvy and thus tend to tip the scales towards the 'liberal' side (using liberal loosely as in opposition to conservative). There's a very high probability that your grandpa doesn't even know that Breitbart or whatever online conservative lunatics out there exist. But he surely knows Fox News, CNN and the likes.
3- The conservative online presence is not that large but it is extremely noisy. In the social media. As noted in the article, there's less content coming from alleged 'liberal' sources than conservative ones. So they yell and whine incessantly and loudly but they don't produce as much content leading to this apparent 'bias'.
But you see, it's bound to backfire. An event that would be an exclusive homage to WB's IP with plenty of free advertisement is now forced to go generic eventually ditching said IP in favor of a more open, diverse experience.
"This means the case might go on longer than it needs to, even though it's crystal clear Moore's just trying to exact litigious revenge for allowing himself to be suckered in by a little flattery. "
And also means expenses can't be recouped once he inevitably loses. Talk about justice.
Re: Microsoft should just charge a low nominal fee
Or team up with competitors. Or offer completely opensource solutions. Still, offering free protection for any politician sounds pretty ok. Actually we should be encouraging politicians, candidates and public servants to ramp up security nowadays and surely Redmond and other tech companies could offer advice. Google has virtually stopped attacks by implementing 2FA physical keys for instance. its a valuable contribution.
They should have lost their copyrights the moment these titles were removed from the market. If you aren't selling the thing in a format that can be used with currently sold equipment then you lose your copyrights. Simple as that.
What Nintendo is doing may be within their rights but it's certainly not ethical. As is the law. Life + infinity regardless of availability is unethical and immoral.
Re: Clowns are PAID to push pro-corporate propaganda. So never ends.
Dude, you need psychiatric treatment. I mean, I think Breitbart is full of shit so I simply don't read them. Why do you torture yourself by reading something that seems to be so stressful to you?
Digital piracy is rampant here in my country. Even physical piracy is widely spread because of the stupidly high prices of physical media. The govt has seized millions upon millions of pirated content often destroying them with much fanfare and publicity to the fact and the jailed people. Never made a dent in piracy.
And yet, despite wide, chap or even free availability everywhere Netflix is a huge success. Its almost as if you provide availability and fair pricing can reduce piracy. Go figure.
Re: “Natural monopoly” vs “government induced monopoly”
You also never read about and don't work with infrastructure. I do. And yes, it is a natural monopoly because the underground has limited space (as the upper portion in poles) and they are usually a nightmare to navigate for new deployment in crowded areas.
Re: Re: “Natural monopoly” vs “government induced monopoly”
I'm here imagining the world would be if the guy had his way. I mean, how we would accommodate dozens of water pipes, sewage pipes, electric wires, optic fibers from 80, 100 different companies while following basic physics and security measures (like sewage being always below water pipes and maintaining enough declivity not to wear the heck out of the system due to excessive flow speed).
That's what came to mind yes. For all I care the telcos could be all ran by women and I'd still use the same metaphor because that's what Pai is. A mere sex toy in their hands.
Nothing unexpected and all considering pay has his mouth full with telcos metaphoric penises but I just thought this partisan rhetoric may backfire badly for the telcos if Democrats win overwhelmingly next elections. It's kind of a double-edged sword at least in the telecommunications sector.
"Google is notorious for altering search results based on whatever their goals are this week."
Really? I wouldn't rule it out but notorious would mean they'd be heads deep in a shitstorm with regulators. So far I haven't seen anything remotely looking like a shitstorm. Grandstanding yes but nothing of substance.
I think liberal leaning fits better in this case. The "left" Steven dropped in that sentence actually makes his argument poorer at a glance than it really is. I wish people stopped using these labels without knowing what they mean. Most people I know, even die hard "right-wingers" agree there is no left in the US major parties. Only thing closer to left I've seen there is one or two independents.
