technology. Amazon usually has great customer service, but that's for books and such. They clearly don't know how to support things such as the Kindle and probably will hurt themselves in the long run; why buy books if they can suddenly be locked out? I'll stick to paper books. You can easily flip back a few pages and then return without a lot of hassle. I expected better from Amazon's tech support
I doubt preschoolers would be that smart, but it would certainly be very funny if they managed to figure it out. Also kids could simply bring a friend's jersey to school in a backpack and then the system would register that the kid was there when in fact he/she was at home playing video games. They could even extend it by cutting out the rfid chips and putting a bunch of them in one jacket then half the class could skip school with no one noticing.
drug companies and universities tend to be way more interested in potential profits than in actually helping humanity. Drug companies in particular would much rather earn 10 million and save 50,000 lives rather than earn 5 million and save 500,000 lives.
next they will arrest people walking INTO Walmart on the basis that they were planning to steal something. Or they will arrest people simply walking down the street since they were planning to buy drugs (oops they already do that).
ARE a major issue for the FBI since the people with the copyrights pay them enough to enforce it. Missing persons aren't going to contribute any money to the FBI coffers, and identity theft victims probably don't have enough money either. It's all about big business and the money they contribute to the federal agencies; this is plutocracy at the worst.
define piracy as anyone else using their work. To them it is NOT piracy for them to copy or redistribute anyone else's work, regardless of copyright or IP rules. Why is anyone surprised they would do this? And of course they won't pay a realistic fine since they have the judges on their gift list. If an individual did what they are doing, they would be demanding multi-million dollar penalties and jail time.
how thoroughly our government is riddled with corruption and bribery. The White House castigates foreign governments for corruption and bribery while ignoring the rampant corruption in our own government. I wonder just how much money/gifts/drugs/hookers are passed around in order to get what the businesses want? I would think that any federal elected official or regulatory agency is wide open to bribery. Sometimes I wonder if the spooks are also open to it. We're definitely in a plutocracy, not a democracy.
that the IP groups don't really give a rats tushie about anyone's copyright or IP except their own. it's not really surprising; they are really in the extortion business anyway.
has his/her price. It doesn't matter how high or how low the elected office is. An honest politician is one who stays bought. They don't even need to do it via "campaign contributions"; there are plenty of other ways to slip money to candidates or elected officials. For example, give to a "charitable agency" that is run entirely by the candidate's family. For every election law that tries to limit money being given to candidates, there are multiple ways to get around it. The higher you go, the more corrupt they are. I think they just have to be careful not to accept money from both sides on the same issue in case someone rats them out.
ASCAP or any of the record companies interested in artists? They exist solely to make money. Helping or doing something for artists is a foreign concept to them.
to hire lobbyists? It's much more efficient and effective to just slip money/drugs/hookers directly to the members of Congress. That saves time and gets better results.
are totally intolerant and hateful of any other religion. Their entire mindset is that you have to belive them and do what they say, and if you do anything to offend them you should either lose your head or be burned at the stake.
It's very hard to keep track of what you can or cannot do to keep the different releigious groups from wanting you dead. Worse yet, the different religious fracture into subgroups, which also hate each other. So right wing Christians hate left wing Christians, plus jews and Islamics. It would certainly make an interesting chart to show which group hates which group.
Fortunately, most western countries have managed to separate religion from government, although I'm sure lots of Christians would love to bring back death penalty for pretty much everything they disagree with, like blasphemy, drug addiction (unless it's one of their sanctioned religious drugs),homosexuality, adultery, etc.
If they had their way we wouldn't have to worry about excess population. Death penalty for adultery? How many people do you know who have done that? or blasphemy?
Suppose they managed to get the 10 commandments into civil law - "thou shalt not covet they neighbor's goods" would totally wreck the economy since no one would be allowed to try to keep up with the Jonses.
There are no monotheistic "religions of peace". They ALL want the unbelievers eliminated.
that the entertainment industry can buy laws from congress and "piracy" is far more of a problem than corporations dumping millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf and facing no real punishment. Probably the oil executives are already sending gifts to the right places.
who is protecting us from the spooks? I thought the idea was that the spooks were to protect us? The spooks seem more interested in their own agendas and emulating the Gestapo than trying to protect American citizens
The spirit of Heinrich Himmler lives! The Gestapo is back!
The courts will quickly decide that the police have a perfect right to video anyone, while citizens have no right to video anything.
Always think they are above such trivial things as the law or moral codes. Since they have no problem taking "campaign contributions" and "gifts" (money, drugs, hookers) from anyone who can pay, why would they give a rats tushie about this? However at the same time they want to send file sharers to prison.
