Re:
Ron Paul told a story about when the Patriot Act was going through Congress initially. He asked the rep next to him what was in the bill that made him want to support it. The rep said he didn't read the bill. So Paul asked why he was voting for it. The rep responded that he couldn't vote against something call the Patriot Act because he wouldn't be able to get re-elected. I am pretty sure that is how most operate in Congress except for the few who actually care what is in the bills the lobbyists write.

Yeah! Revenge of the Nerds is pretty funny. Of course, I don't remember the Alpha Beta frat boys winning in the end. Can't wait 'til you're pounding sand. Regardless of the SOPA/PIPA outcome, you will still be losers...it is coming.

Without Due Process
Arguably, the limits placed on search engines as well as other third parties under SOPA would also violate constitutional protections of freedom of speech. But even if not barred legally, any such restrictions should be imposed only after the most careful consideration, only when absolutely necessary, and even then, to the smallest degree possible.
Essentially, they believe that there should be some due process instead of guilty until proven innocent. Good for them!

Re: Gah. Lego.
I figured we will probably end up with over 4,000 new LEGO pieces this Christmas. Gonna need a new laundry detergent tub from Sam's Club! I also thought of 3D printing your own LEGOs, as Michael said. They already have really good CAD files for LEGO building software. Once 3D printing becomes cheap and accurate enough to replicate LEGO's tolerances we should be able resurrect some of the old designs we had back when we were kids.

Give credit where credit is due. Techdirt has lambasted him in the other cases he is involved in. Just shows that he is in it for the money and not some moral stance.

Righthaven may not have copyrights pertinent to the case but may actually own some IP. The court is ordering Righthaven to hand over all they have to pay the defense award. Note in the link Mike made to his earlier post Mike made sorta the same point, questioning what IP they had.

At least Mike is giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are ignorant and not blatantly approving censorship controlled by corporations.
