heh, so in essence, when i hit craigslist for a half cow sourced from a local farm, butchered and delivered in the city...i'm once again being a pirate and pissing on the grave of the traditional gatekeepers (grocery store).
I can live with that.
umm, from a strictly security standpoint, i can absolutely understand scrubbing that story from the web, if she's still in mexico. it's a failed state, damned near an active civil war.
We did something similar when he was blocking the marijuana decrim bill from even getting a hearing, turned out he had a private prison in his district and they had contributed a healthy amount to his reelection.
Here's the problem i'm seeing- our legislators barely know the interwebz exist, they have NO idea how large a portion of our daily lives, entertainment, news etc comes to us via the web. Convincing them that any popular file must be illegitimate is easy, because it's the only way they understand in their gut to get media. We're literally existing in two different worlds.
Maybe they feel like the power grab is getting made, whether they provide an excuse or not. ACTA/SOPA/hadopi/digital economy act etc.
The actions taken against a free internet are going down one way or the other, maybe the felt like it was better to go down swinging, and maybe rally some attention to the cause before it's too late.
if i buy it from amazon, i could be taken away at any time. I'f i pirate it from demonoid, then put it my kindle, it's mine forever, in any format i need.
(even though i'm just going to delete it when i'm done, which is why i'm not paying 9 bucks for a digital file) i'm down to just buying books at cons that i want autographed.

btguard is a great investment, the proxy set up at least can be installed on at least 4 devices on one account. Not sure about the VPN.
