The published documents are no longer classified, since they've been leaked. Documents, once leaked, cannot be classified any longer, by definition. The government can wish to the contrary all they want to, but everyone is free to report something once it's been leaked.
Publishing information that's already been leaked is not against the law, no matter how much certain Congressmen may want it to be. Assange has done nothing wrong.
I'm American, and I don't exactly disagree. Every time the subject crosses my mind, I keep arriving at the same conclusion: In order to protect American values, it's becoming increasingly necessary to subvert American government.
No more creativity, music, film and books, unless its free and made by amateurs.
That's what I'm aiming for, personally. If T.S. Eliot could write The Wasteland as an "amateur," then I don't see how it's a condition that produces undesirable work.
Hell, I stopped p2p-ing music about two years ago when sites like Jamendo turned me onto CC-licensed free music. I don't listen to commercial music at all anymore.
So how about it? Is that what you want...nobody pays you, and nobody listens either? Or will you whine that the other artists are "stealing" listeners from you?
There aren't any other sites like that, at least not that I know of. Jamendo is a personal favorite of mine, but it's free downloads with an option to donate, rather than a fixed fee.
"You aren't fooling ANYONE with your stupid fucking claim that you don't personally pirate. You can not personally pirate anything and yet still be one of the biggest supporters of piracy on the planet. And that's just what you are."
Really? I don't see why those two points of view are incompatible.
I don't pirate anymore, mainly because the industries no longer produce anything I'm interested in. Yet I'm a very vocal supporter of piracy, mainly because I'm for anything the copyright cartels are against.
I WANT to see your industry crash and burn. I WANT you to dry up and your seeds to blow away in the wind. I WANT your industry to become an historical footnote, on how NOT to handle the public.
And yet thanks to music sites like Jamendo and web series on sites like YouTube, I've basically lost all interest in cartel-produced media, especially music. Therefore, I have no reason to download it online. I'm a non-pirate that supports piracy.
And what, precisely, is this magic label that doesn't make their initial outlay 100% recoupable out of the band's 10% or so royalty? You have to sell about 800,000 albums through a traditional label before you make a DIME from them...although this is the traditional major label model, most indie labels don't dare try anything different.

If I want to sell it someone else, I will.
If I want to give it away, I will.
If I want to smash it with a sledge hammer, I will.
If I want to set it on fire, I will.
If I want to spray paint polka-dots all over it, I will.
If I want to modify the hardware, I will.
Period.
