Where is my large well armored Demon with an axe as tall as he is that I can send in to fight my enemies whilst it burn them down throwing fire and shadow energy.
I have seen many drivers reading the paper (or a book or a magazine) or putting on makeup (or shaving) in the rearview mirror & I only have a 10 minute commute! I would have to think those are far worse than talking on the phone for the amount of attention it distracts from the responsibility of driving. I do agree using hands free is better than taking your hands off the wheel. I make calls on my way home frequently (I use a Bluetooth headset and voice dial) but I always remember that my primary focus needs to be on the road, my driving and what is going on around me. I have to agree that singling out cell phone use when there are so many distractions to driving is counterproductive. I also have to agree that the careless/reckless driving laws already on the books should be sufficient to deal with this issue. There is no need to stuff more needles legislation into the mix.
I just hope the trial Judge does not punt the issues, and makes a well reasoned decision. I know it is a lotto ask of our current judicial system, but I am hoping. Our luck the newspaper will settle for an "undisclosed amount" and The privacy issues will go unresolved.
OK all kidding aside I am pretty sure that when Mike said "Microsoft still failing to get much traction in the online world (yes, a bit more than in the past, but not enough to be interesting)" that he was referencing search in particular (seems to be pretty clear in the context to me). Latest News shows that for Search the market share is thus ... Google 69.97% / Yahoo 15% / Microsoft's Bing 9.6% {http://www.marketwatch.com/story/yahoo-gains-us-search-share-in-march-report-2010-04-07}
Windows 7 is a very cool OS by far the best Microsoft has ever produced but it certainly is not the only game in town. As far as Windows Mobile goes Microsoft has some catching up to do. I use a Windows Mobile 6.1 Smartphone Myself (HTC Mogul / PPC 6800) because of the ease of moving information in and out of windows, but I know a lot of people who like the iPhone (I personally have no interest in dealing with Apple's proprietary BS) and the Android OS. I am waiting for Windows Mobile 7 before I upgrade and I hope that Microsoft does equally as well with Windows Mobile 7 as they did with Windows 7 but Microsoft's past performance does not inspire much confidence in that.
Responding to how much money Microsoft has in the bank. 1) Cite your source because I doubt they have that in any bank, total holdings or cash equity maybe, but actually in the bank, doubtful. 2) Who Cares? The "I will crush you with my wallet" defense may work in court but does not measure actual leadership or innovation.

As you may know one of the things I do is PC Technical Support, and I also am skeptical of any software that claims to be able to fix a computer without human assistance. Troubleshooting tools are one thing (The Windows 7 Troubleshooters are are actually amazingly useful), but I have to say that one of the most annoying parts of my job is cleaning up the mess that these kind of programs make. These cleaning and registry optimizing programs usually cause more problems than thy solve.
Connie Schultz, a columnist for the recdep, and a supporter of thinkpol laws is back with another goodthink column, this time weighing in on the current debates about anonymous comments and a newspaper's decision to reveal the name of a crimethinker. Her summary: anonymity is ungood oldthink and should be done away with. Not just ungood, but bad for Oceania.
It WAS advertised on the box, and I Know that 2-5% of PS3 owners use the other OS feature & almost all of them (that bought the original PS3 before the slim came out) know about it.
You are required to upgrade your PS3 so and you can continue playing games online, or purchase new games. Without upgrading your firmware existing games will stop working properly
If you actively use the other OS feature (which many people do) and it does matter, purchasing a small computer that you can run a **nix OS on is not what you paid for, but you may have to anyway.
"Point being do you think Sony is going to let something like not being able to read and agree to the EULA until AFTER purchase stop them from trying to smack any lawsuits down with it?"
Stop them from trying? NO it won't. But succeeding maybe, the good news is there is a lot of debate as to whether an EULA/ToS type agreement is even enforceable, especially if it could not be read before purchase I for one have been looking to purchase an older (and I am sure it would be used -- OH NoES!) PS3, because of this functionality. I am a PC Gamer. I was looking into getting some console titles but wanted some real utility from the console. Thank you Sony, for reinforcing my feeling that console gaming is a worthless bag of Sh!t, you will not be getting any of my gaming budget now or in the future.
