Yeah, but only because a bunch of the credit card processing companies told them to pull the book or they would stop processing for them.
Many people don't realize that the credit card processing companies and companies like AlertPay are now bending the arms of the people who use their services to remove 'loli' and other controversial content, which I think should be illegal.
These business, although private, should have to do business with anyone as long as the people in question are not doing something illegal in the country where they are based.
It is NOT stolen private information. It is 'stolen' (if you believe that leaks are stealing) government information. Which means that I as an American citizen and taxpayer, have a right to see it.
Our Founding Fathers would be ROLLING OVER IN THEIR GRAVES with idiots like you who mistake public information (done on the government dime), though classified, for private information.
Our government has no right to secrets, and that includes the people who WORK for our government while they are on the job. In their private lives? Fine, they can have secrecy, but not when they are working on MY DIME!
Not if you want the best prices. The fact is that anyone who would stop shopping with Amazon over this is an idiot who doesn't believe in our freedom of press and numerous other rights.
BINGO! That is why I am very suspicious that Amazon was pressured into this decision, much like with the much-ballyhooed pedophiles/pedosexuals guide that was on there a few months ago.
Actually, it is LEGAL to call for the overthrow of the American government. The Founding Fathers said many many times that if a majority of the American people had a problem with the government, then overthrow WAS a legitimate, sane and acceptable solution to their problems.
NO, you are living in a fantasy world where you think that secrecy (i.e. lies to the public) needs to exist. It doesn't, never has needed to exist except for VERY SHORT PERIODS, and never will need to exist except for VERY SHORT PERIODS!
Basically, everything should be DE-classified after, at most, 3 months to a year.
Maybe with some NAMES marked out, but nothing else.
Actually, I think that we are honestly getting close to the point where we are going to have the second American Civil War, where it will be people who think the corporatocracy we have today is good against the people who think that a more socialistic leaning government (not totally communist, but a balance between capitalism and communism) is better.
Basically, conservative vs. liberal. Contrary to popular belief, those two groups are about equal in the US today.
Congress is too milquetoast to reign in law enforcement period
Since 9/11. I hate to admit that, but it is the blunt truth.
With the hysteria over pedophiles/pedosexuals, the hysteria over terrorism, and now this? The 'due course of law' is becoming more and more suspect in the United States.
This 'security theater' that the TSA is doing is all about putting money into the pockets of various corporations, WITHOUT having any real effect on the 'safety' of people on planes.
Now, somethings are okay and add security: metal detectors without having to take your shoes off.... that actually prevents people from bringing planes or cartridges on board.
This other stuff? Not so much, it just adds a BIG inconvenience to flyers AND no real security benefit.
In fact, it just encourages suicide bombers to BOMB THE AIRPORT TERMINAL!
Hit the head on 'We are heading towards a totalitarian police state'.
I thought Obama and the Democrats would stop that. Apparently not. Or, they are trying to but the Republicans and conservatives are getting in their way big time!
People realize sooner or later how these things are NOT making them any safer. That is why they are eventually phased out.
Really, I'm suspicious of 9/11. 200+ people on a plane, and NO ONE reasoned out that "Hey, these guys are terrorists and most likely.... SUICIDE TERRORISTS! STOP THEM NOW!"
Seriously, if I was on board a plane, that is EXACTLY what I would have shouted out to the whole plane!
No, 9/11 REEKS of an allowed attack and/or government run attack. Yes, I am saying that Bush was involved in some way MORE than just allowing it to happen, or his government was!
Yes, they do. They believe that as a 'government organization', that they are above the law. Of course, we all know different and have known different for a long time.
How have they locked jack down? I can play pirated ANYTHING on my machine, easy as 1, 2 3, YIPPEE!
Get real, idiot. This is not a Microsoft bashing thread, this is bashing the DMCA.
Microsoft have not added ANYTHING that is REQUIRED in software, except when it is their OWN software. Like the 'channel flags'. If I don't want that bull? I just have to use non-Microsoft software!
No, that is someone being overly milquetoast. Did our Founding Fathers say "IT is the law!" and not protest against the Stamp Act and Tea Tax? No, they didn't. They protested out the wazoo and we are now existent because of their protests.
"Da law is da law" is not a good enough argument for anyone except the IMPEDED out there.
We have already point out the holes in that fallacious argument. I did a 'show and tell' as to why I mod/jailbreak my stuff: a very scratched disc that I had treated like it was made of 2 micron thick stained glass.
They need to switch from discs to DRIVES.... i.e. USB flash drives.
I am not so sure about that. If one is legal, the other should be legal, and it seems that the Patent Office is just being overly milquetoast here.
But, I should point out: Last I heard, my right to do with something I have bought as I please are NOT allowed to be infringed by the government for any reason, save if I am creating an extreme safety hazard.

It's very clear that Amazon was either coerced or bluntly THREATENED into dropping Wikileaks.

Government only needs secrecy for VERY short periods in order to keep ONGOING operations from being exposed.
