Agreed. Someone needs to take this to court based on "First Sale" principals. Once I buy something, it is MINE TO DO WITH AS I PLEASE!
I can understand Microsoft being unhappy that people are jailbreaking their consoles, but if the idiots would USE SOMETHING OTHER THAN EASILY SCRATCHED DISCS.... maybe people wouldn't jailbreak.
Seriously: SWITCH TO FLASH DRIVES! Easiest solution in the damned world to the problem.
A good point and one that I have been pointing out
The fact is that different people learn at different speeds, and some people just ARE NOT going to be able to understand things like trigonometry and calculus.
Hell, why are we even teaching those things to people who are not going into scientific fields in the first place, or trying to force children to learn those things?
It's stupidity. We should be focusing on finding out what each individual child is good at after the basics of math (A,D,S,M,F), reading (at least to a 10th grade level, which ANY child can get to before going to school if they are encouraged to read), writing, etc. and then focus on encouraging them to move into things that they are good at.
For me, that would have been computer science, non-religious philosophy, and music. For others, it might be advanced math, advanced science, and advanced English or whatever you wish to name.
Trying to pigeonhole everyone just makes for a bunch of people who are mediocre in EVERYTHING, who don't exceed in anything.
Dark Helmet, I will argue that we do have a right to travel as we wish, especially considering that we are PAYING for the means in question.
It is a HUMAN AND CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to move around this country USING THE MEANS THAT WE WISH, without being treated as a criminal or potential criminal.
If we allow them to do this bullcrap in airlines, what is to stop them from doing it on buses? On cruise ships? ON YOU WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING YOUR OWN PERSONALLY OWNED CAR!
No, these things are not necessary, and a better thing to protect Americans would be to do BEHAVIORAL and FACIAL RECOGNITION screening. After all, 99% of the 'terrorists' that have tried to get on planes to bomb them have been KNOWN to the FBI or another organization.
Righ in one, Dark Helmet. There have ALWAYS been people trying to kill Americans.... that is not a good enough reason to give up our Constitutional and human right to not be treated as a criminal without reasonable suspicion or proof.
It's time to stop saying that these things are necessary to 'protect Americans'. 9/11 WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED if Bushie the Dunce Boy would have allowed the FBI to pursue the 9/11 hijackers six MONTHS before 9/11, when they first came to the attention of the FBI because they were learning to FLY planes but not how to take off nor land them!
Maybe the United States courts will take notice of this and realize that an IP address for anything, from copyright infringement to even child porn trading, IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Seriously, someone could hack into your wireless network, secured or not. Someone could put a tap into your line and run a cable to their home (considering most people aren't home 24/7, this is very possible).
Those are only two of the NUMEROUS alternative situations.
Exactly right. I have done ALL OF THOSE THINGS at a class for computer security where the teacher was making it VERY CLEAR that it was SO DAMNED EASY to fake a person's IP address/MAC address, that IP addresses/MAC addresses alone or even together were not concrete evidence.
Most employers don't give a shit what you are viewing at home. They just care whether you do a good job on the premises, and what you do at home they couldn't care less about.
That is the reason why these scanners SHOULD NOT BE USED! It is treating ALL passengers as potential criminals, and violates the Fourth Amendment.
Our security on 9/11 was good enough. The FBI KNEW who the 9/11 hijackers were MONTHS before 9/11. Bush ordered the FBI to NOT pursue these people and wouldn't give them the necessary means to pursue these people.
Actually, yes someone does control the terrorists: their own sense of 'morality'. We can all agree that their morality is extremely skewed.... but someone is controlling them.
He was right on that as well, though a little high with the monopoly share that a company would have to have... I say it's more like 90% if there is more than five companies competing, and 50% if there are only 2 or 3.
Right in one, Mike. The fact is that ONLY CONGRESS and other legislating bodies have the right to change the law. The Supreme Court and other courts can NULLIFY them based on Constitutional issues, but even they cannot change them.
I would be pressing for a lawsuit to nullify the voting because the Constitutional Amendment as passed was unconstitutionally vague and a normal person could not understand what was being done.
