1995) you (content industry shill=CIS), playing with IPs and ports. When the road (internet) became big enough to disrupt your distribution model you wanted this thing (internet) for yourself. You want to enact laws (and you succeded with some) that impose selfcensorship on intermediates (ISP, blog owners) with 0% cost for you and 100% cost for them.
So you want us (geeks) to "fix" our playground and workground (internet) so that it becomes dumbproof (apple products, TV) and with that almost unhackable. You want us to do your work for you. For free. I'm reminded of a quote a man once wrote: And the one's living in the "greedy cunts" are the pirates who think it's OK to take what they want without paying
Really? You're saying there are no free speech issues in seizing these Android app sites? Glad to hear it.
No, I'm not - how did you jump to that conclusion? You do understand that it's harder to troll here than youtube? People that read the comments of this blog have a brain and they use it. Try it sometime.
Any website is speech. I know you understand that but shills will be shills.
Yes. Really. Oh, you meant it as a rhetorical question? Too bad - not going to feed the troll with explaining his own logical fallacies.
"Why is this situation any different?"
I don't know - maybe because google does not own any copyrights on android apps? link to my comment
Also problems with SOPA were elsewhere - hindering free speech among others.
Just because irony is hard to grasp you shouldn't use it whenever you want to be seen as smart. Doesn't work that way - it is actually counterproductive.
The only walled garden Google controls is Google Play store. It seems you don't understand open nature of software on Android - android users have NO problem installing 3rd party apps directly from file. While developers might be angry Google certainly doesn't give a f***.
I love experiments with trolls! I made a java program that takes comments of x posts from techdirt (I keep x low and save data to disk afterwards to keep traffic strain low) and tried to do sentiment analysis/opinion mining on anonymous ones. Not there yet but getting closer. If you're interested I could post code to github.
Yeah - but almost nobody who visited you before would know where you live. For a year. It's not seizing a house - it's more like destroying all information that can lead people to your house, erasing phonebook entries for you phone number, deleting you address from public view...but you still have your coordinates (IP address), right?
