"You could care less about the rights and freedom of the creators"
You're right, I could care less, since I care a great deal. But because I care a great deal about creators, I would quite like to see gatekeepers - sorry, Big Gatekeeping (just to translate for you) kept out of copywrite, and let the ACTUAL creators have a reasonable amount of time to monetise before they then are given further incentive to create something new.
You on the other seem like you COULDN'T care less about creators - it's all about Big Gatekeepings ability to make Big Money off Small Creators.
'Girl' toys on the whole are shite (I say this as a girl who really didn't get the whole Barbie thing). And why is it so hard to just get normal lego now - just the pieces, as opposed to total lack of imagination connect the dots toys?
As a wannabe author, I'd be fucking stoked if something I wrote was popular enough to inspire fanfic. Like, ABSOLUTELY OVER THE MOON. Even if I hated any particular fanfic, the fact that someone liked my story/plot/characters/setting/whatever enough to have a go with them themselves would make me very very happy. I just don't understand authors who refuse to acknowledge (or even actively demonise) the people who are arguably their biggest fans, because I've never met a fanficcer who didn't love the source material enormously.
Maybe Morrison is just bitter no one wants to write fanfics of his work.
Well that's about the biggest failure of a comment I've ever seen. You've already been burned by Mike, but damn, could have made it more obvious you haven't been keeping up?
Re: Why are Apple suing rather than competing? Maybe...
Because the only times that Apple has successfully got to market first is when Steve jobs was in control. Which isn't the case at the moment. And never will be again.
Are you actually serious? It means exactly what it says, namely that maybe Google should have stood more firmly instead of just going 'fuck it, here's some names'.
Yeah, see I never got that about Harriet, and why someone doesn't explain it to her. My husband & I are hanging out for the last book, and had planned to buy the hardcover & ebook at the same time so we could each read it without having to wait our turn. Then lo-and-behold, it turns out we can't. So instead of getting two sales of the one book in our house, they're gonna have to make do with one. Their loss, I suppose.
Oh but don't forget the FBI told the police that Kim had a device that would let him delete all the servers. What it says about our cops that they believed such a load of crap though...
As near as I can tell half if them seem to write vampire porn. Perhaps they're taking out the fact that they've just realised they're completely unoriginal hacks on the nearest "soft" target they could find. Seriously, some of the quotes of their work make Twilight look inspired and masterful, and Twilight isn't even good enough to wipe my bum with.
That's the new criteria for determining world powers? In which case, all of you bow down to your new kiwi overlords! We are taking dominion over you all!
Can you shut up? Seriously. Take your yellow journalism crap and stop commenting about my country's legal system like you have the first fucking idea what you're talking about.
If he says he's Anonymous, then he's Anonymous. That's how it works.
And honestly, rather it happens now, like this, than by who knows who and for who knows what purpose later. Governments need to pull their head out of their arses and realise that stuff like that isn't secure just because they say it must be.
Most people I know either held off for a month or so, or just straight away switched to various proxies, VPNs and seedboxes. What really pisses me off about the whole law is the presumption of guilt, and the blatant give us free stuff from the entertainment industries. For a changeI'm feeling pro Telecom, purely because they want the cost to send an infringement notice put up to $104.
Also, NZFACT can suck a dick for having the most misleading name of all time.
