However, if his mindset is shared by the majority of other SC judges, it would seem that they consider the Constitution as less important than 'protecting the country from terrorism(Because terrorists!)', which does not seem to bode well for the already battered and besieged document.
If the founding principles of this nation are violated all of the time through metadata collection, and the court allows it, then the US isn't a country really worth protecting anyways since it no longer stands for anything. Sort of a catch 22.
Exactly what I was coming in to say. They are probably trying to advertise their services so that more people would be willing to pay them to get this all of the time.
They are working hard to make sure that as much innovation as possible happens outside of the US and that nothing good comes from within their borders.
Its like they don't realize that the internet is GLOBAL. They can pay for laws here in the US and in a few European countries, but there are a lot more on the internet than just those few.
Well since the NSA loves redefining words, I will redefine every finger I have to be a thumb. And then they will get one central thumb up on each hand.
The funny thing would be all of the random penis and breast enlargement sites they accidentally go to and try to enter their information into because they were just told "you will receive a special penis enlargement email".
Pretty soon they will be pissed at the Nigerians for taking their terrorist funds.
Just the fact that the above comment got rated insightful is further proof of how all of those here as well feel the same as the citizenry there.
We all just feel that the cops are no longer on their side. We don't feel this way just because, but we feel this way because cops around the country are working overtime to make sure that we feel this way. If they can't see why, then maybe they should take some time to reflect and possibly read these discussions online. Might help them figure things out of their aren't overly closed minded.
Anyone else notice that the authors of these laws and acts that are being abused always come out later after the abuses to say "It wasn't intended for this!". Well, maybe they should have listened to the critics who at the time of proposing it were telling them it was open to abuse later on. The internet has raised plenty of concerns on plenty of acts and each time the writers say "Oh, it won't be used that way, just trust us". Then later on the laws are abused to oppress the public.
Anyone else noticing this pattern? And then they want to put in place laws like SOPA and such but don't worry they say, it won't be abused. Ha!
Until they show up at your house with professional locksmiths while you are out away. And they know when you are, because they know you address, your phone number, your phone provider, and the same info for anyone else who lives with you.
And since they have access to all other records from major entertainment and communication services, they will know exactly when you leave and most likely for how long.
They can just do a friendly drop in, copy your hard drive, and then poof back out. You need a pretty intense system to know that they were even there. Or just a non-bribable dog perhaps.
