I'm sure that as soon as she is slammed by "big media" (probably her future employers) she will change her tune, and insist she was misquoted or misconstrued... :-(
The fact is, commercial publications make zip from print copies. Their main income, and all profits, are from advertising. The more eyeballs they have, the more they can make. Of all people, Rupert Murdock should be aware of this, yet his overweaning sense of entitlement has made him forget that maxim in the publishing business - no one pays for what no one reads!
Given that the WSJ is now owned by none other than Rupert Murdoch, why should we be surprised by this? If there is any "journalist" that takes quotes out of context, all of RM's media outlets use that as a watchword... What a maroon!
"There are a bunch of services out there that present such legislative data, but having a straight XML feed from Congress to Wikipedia seems like an all around good idea."
Indeed, but this is why it won't happen, most likely... :-(
Here's hoping they reconsider. I have been using Google Reader for some years for reading the news sites I am interested in (including TechDirt and others), and it would be a REAL PITA if they drop it! It works, works well, and is convenient!
Germany, like France, will soon find themselves in the Internet "Black Hole". Talk about the Law of Unintended Consequences! These boneheads will soon learn about that!
One can only hope that the judge issues bench warrants for the arrest of these asshats and throws their sorry butts into a deep, dark hole! This isn't just (IMO) a matter of contempt of court - it is more a matter of felony obstruction of justice!
Any software, game or otherwise, that requires an "always on" internet connection, should be shunned - run as fast as you can away from it! I don't care if it is the bee's knees, and nothing else will work for what you need. If you cannot run it off-line (gee, I am going to be in the back of the beyond for the next 6 months studying the mating habits of the Well-Heeled Bozo and will want to decompress in the evening after a tiring day of documenting their behavior) then why in the heck would you want to buy it in the first place!
If this judge does his job, he will issue a bench warrant for all of these dipwads! Some time in jail, and loss of their licenses to practice law might have some effect on them!
In for a penny, in for a pounding headache! I'm just waiting for Gibbs to be cited for contempt or obstruction. Maybe some time in "stir" will wake the bonehead up a bit, that he is in WAAAAY over his head!
Why do we keep voting these dipwads into office? Do they have our best interests at heart? Not bloody likely! They are in the pay of big media and other special interests. It is time we voted for some folks who would take OUR interests to heart...
EA/Maxis have to be taught a hard lesson - we are BUYING your stuff, NOT RENTING IT! If a single-player game cannot be run offline, then it should not be rented. Don't give those asshats a single penny - their execs will soon be booted out of their offices by their shareholders, and (hopefully) more intelligent and aware people will replace them. Yeah, that and $5USD will get you a nice latte at Starbucks!
Given the complete lunacy that seems to be sweeping the world about this sort of cruft, and combined with the total idiocy of our "elected" officials, I can only surmise that there is a global pandemic of some sort of madness-inducing brain disease that has infected the majority of the Earth's population! Time for the CDC to do some serious investigating...
We didn't call our early industrial moguls "Robber Barons" for no good reason! As someone once told me, "If you aren't stealing from others ideas, you aren't trying hard enough!"... :-)
will get you a nice latte at Starbucks! My guess (and 2 cents worth) is that they will settle out of court before too much of their dirty laundry gets displayed in the back yard... :-(
