i can't find out who is responsible for this mess...
when i *tried* to see about alternatives to our present shitty ISP (is that a redundant oxymoron?), i kept on running up against -what i *thought* was anathema to a so-called free-market capitalistic system- 'non-compete agreements', such that we HAD NO CHOICE... literally, EVERY *theoretical* alternative ISP i called up to see about service, routed my phone call BACK TO MY PRESENT ISP when i input my zip code... EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM... I HAVE NO CHOICE, and i can't even find out WHO the responsible parties are for WHY i have no choice... county says its the state, state says its the county... and NONE of them are interested in hearing about it, period... so pissed off, am thinking about becoming a distributor for a satellite-based system which goes to a peering, point-to-point antenna system... if i had the money to burn, i would... (i'd rather burn the ISPs, though, fuckers)
reminds me of the lily tomlin routine as a telephone operator (humor grandpa, kidz) where she answers the switchboard (google it) "ATT, we don't care, because we don't have to!"
but, the sad state of affairs is, *most* sites of nearly any type don't allow either posts, or critical posts, much less warts-and-all free speech...
besides, hasn't it been shown we actually *are* foetal battery-blobs in the NSA's matrix ? ? ?
(okay, spel czech, i might have to give you foetal... aha! no, i don't! i retract the apology, it is a britishism, but it is a word, you POS...)
The Accountability Office is 100% accountable, citizen. It says so right in the Truth-Speak(tm) name. How you could not understand that is a failure on your part, citizen ? You only need to be re-educated to conform to approved Right-Thought(tm) processes, citizen. Please, don't resist, citizen, it will only make your Freedom-Enhancing(tm) confinement more stringent!
1. could be, may be, might be... 2. spooks like to get at least a twofer: so, discredit anyone/everyone speaking against the gummint by associating them with these gullible/desperate fools; *and* manufacture the 'need' for more GWOT lucre... 3. *except* it seems it was more desperation, low IQ, and hanging out with someone providing everything, AND cash in your pocket ? sure, achmed, sign me up for gee-had, now pass me a beer... i'm betting these guys thought this was all bullshit, and they humored whoever was talking big, with no real thought of anything real becoming of it... 4. i'm betting there are any number of real plots by mostly reichwingers which go -not unnoticed- unscathed *because* they are reichwingers who still support Empire...
1. and *how* often are these things you call 'laws' and 'regulations' actually enforced upon the 1% ? ? ? sure, you, me, any of the 99% 'lie', and we end up in jail or tasered to death; but the 1% ? they skate off with their pockets filled with our gold... the 'laws' mean NOTHING without the impartial enforcement...
2. which gets to the point of when is a 'lie' a 'lie', and when is it dismissed as mere 'puffery' ? ? ? in practice, the 1% can tell ANY egregious lie they want, and it will be defined out of existence... thus, "Up To 50 Mbs!", etc, may not technically be a 'lie', but it has NO MEANING... hell, back in the day when we were on 330 baud connections, the ISP *could* have said "Up To 1 Zillion Gps!" and get away with it... IT HAS NO MEANING...
i'll one-up you: don't wear a watch, and never have... (don't like to wear jewelry of any kind) you know why ? 1. there are 'things' all around us which have clocks embedded in them: computer, stove, micro, truck, bank sign, etc... 2. there are lots of other nekkid apes around who wear watches, i ask them... they are proud to show off they have a watch... 3. i apparently have an internal clock that functions fairly well, as i can 'guess' the time and be 'close enough' for most purposes... also, have the ability to set an internal 'alarm clock' such that i can wake up any time -within a couple minutes- without an actual alarm clock... it kind of weirds me out that i can do that, actually...
here's my line: any 'sport' which can be played with a beer in one hand, is not a 'sport'... (*may* be a ton of fun, but it ain't a 'sport')
that includes curling, softball, darts, bowling, billiards, chess, cards, etc... yes, they *may* involve high-skill activities, but not a 'sport'...
'sport' involves running, throwing, hitting, jumping, etc... anything short of that may be a 'game', maybe a highly skilled endeavor, but it is not a 'sport'...
1. i disagree vehemently with some of your stands, but you are spot on here...
2. keep in mind a couple things: MOST sheeple just want to live their lives and not keep up with current events, politics, etc, UNLESS THEY ARE 'FORCED' to for some reasons... while i am wired differently than that, i COMPLETELY understand that people have too much work, too many chores, kids to run around, etc, which leaves little time to actually dig into the issues the mainstream media ignores, or spews the status quo propaganda/lies Empire feeds them... in short: relying on the mainstream media, they don't know what they don't know...
3. *MOST* people *BARELY* know how a computer (or internal combustion engine, for that matter) 'works' (hell, they barely know what a 'file' or subdirectory is), and thus when REALLY important political/societal issues arise which intersect with technical issues, their eyes glaze over...
4. i keep repeating the bumper sticker i saw years ago: if you're not pissed off, you're not paying attention...
yes, 'cause once we inform the stupidheads they are doing something -like- wrong, they will stop doing it ! ! ! easy peasy japanesy ! ! !
...or, could it be they absolutely are aware they are going against the greatest good for the greatest number in order to fulfill the wishes of their puppetmasters ? ? ?
let's summarize, shall we ?
one worldview has the gummint and ultra-successful bidness leaders being the stupidest people in the world who don't realize the simplest and most basic of facts, and all we 99% have to do is simply inform them of these facts, and they will about-face and 'do the right thing'...
OR,
the other worldview has the gummint and ultra-successful bidness leaders playing a game where they PWETEND to be mindful of the wants/needs of the 99%, all the while gutting us in the backroom deals we have no clue about ...
yep, as much as there are some sites (like techdirt) where i would *like* to support them by allowing ads (I NEVER LOOK AT); i am INFINITELY more interested in stopping as much crap from being forced on me as possible...
yes, plug in a peripheral that you never use, but does it change the 'fingerprint' ? presumably so... so you plug in an old flashdrive, and/or whatever, then unplug it the next time, etc...
what next ? we have 'burner' phones, are we going to 'burner' pc's now ? ? ?
surprised any media whore has the wherewithal to do such a thing, but MAJOR kudos to them for doing so...
enough media outlets did this, it would not only render that decision moot, but make the 'offended' parties think twice about stirring up more bad pub...
ALL FOR this type of justified mockery of the powers that be, good stuff... *but*, while it will be 'educational' to some sheeple, the actual politicos are BEYOND SHAME, it will not move the needle on their shame gauge one iota... in point of fact, i'm betting that the MORE effective they are in mocking the process/people, the more likely there will be some legal action to slap them down...
