"Australia Might Finally Let Adults Play Video Games They Want To Play"
As long as it's "approved by the state" - no doubt, still.
We'll see, but I don't have a lot of faith in the People's Republic of Australia backing down. Years ago, it was my target vacation spot to go to someday - not anymore, lol.
Like it or not, the music buisness is call a buisness because it is one. It's there to make money. And if it's not obvious that money can be made, they won't be going there.
The house is no different than a song. It's all a product created to generate income.
Why has music been provided for 'free' then over radio since the early 1900's?
But it came from the same impulsive spirit that drives everything else this band does
Like all the bootleg copies of their stuff that made them popular?
I can guarantee you - I bought every Metallica release up to S&M - and when I first heard them, I can also guarantee you; it wasn't something I already owned.
Look - if I was on the jury, I would be 100% unbiased as to his guilt. Now, if guilt was PROVEN, then he should get the very most the justice system can throw at him.
But just because he's been charged - his name doesn't matter, it's not even relevant - doesn't mean he's guilty.
The problem isn't Facebook - it's the media. The media is the ones to paint a person guilty or innocent half the time.
But in the case of Australia, the UK, the US - surveillance, TSA groping, wiretapping have LONG SINCE tossed out any notion of 'innocent until proven guilty' - the justice system has nothing to do with that concept anymore.
Maybe we should take a few pointers about airport security from Israel. They seem to have the "system" of airport security nailed down WITHOUT the inconvenience...In the middle of one of the high threat hubs of the world.
It's not about security - that's the thing.
It's about control. Mark my words - this will 'fail' and they'll start pushing on how we need all sorts of Identifications and Biometrics - never mind that all the 9/11 hi-jackers had valid ID's...
Tried calling Hertz three times today to setup a rental car - lines busy each time.
I doubt most people are 'ok' with it - I'm certainly not and I'll keep paying for Rental Cars instead of Flying.
The radiation is harmless, by the way. Youll get more x-rays from the sun than you will from this. Maybe a couple of hours in the sun, but nonetheless.
Radiation - harmless?
It's known to irritate skin conditions among other things, which I have one. It's unneeded risk, performed by people who are not medical professionals.
Plus X-rays can sterilize you - ever had a hip x-ray? They make you 'cover it up' with a lead shield to prevent that.
And no - I don't want a 'couple of hours' equivalent radiation 'compressed' into a 5 minute scan. I value my health and privacy more than I do the 'ease' of flying - which isn't 'easy' anymore.
How many acts of terror have happened since 9/11 involving planes? Would this have stopped any of them? Doubt it - any potential 'terrorist' will find a way around this, no doubt.
Or just detonate in line - which could take out as many people as being on the plane anyway - right?
"the fact that people are really starting to cut the cord and go internet only"
No, no - not at all.
When I 'cut the cord' a while back, most of the movies I watched were either from NetFlix, Amazon, or PawnShops (hard to beat 2 dollar DVDs, even if not HD).
The software, music, and movie industries all have the same big issue. There are so many alternate methods of getting any 'media' now - that overpriced physical disks are just not worth the cost. I mean - seriously; $200.00 + for MS Windows? When there are numerous free options out there?
If Windows7 was say.. 39.99 for the 'home' version, I'd buy it. Until then, I'll keep running XP for gaming and Debian/Ubuntu for everything else. Ubuntu's latest release was quite pleasant I might add. The install was a piece of cake and the software options are quite numerous.
I heard recently open-office now wants $99.00 for their 'product' - so there's a new gap. I know Abiword is still a free word processor. This will give Google and others who are considering 'free' office suites a prime opening now.

Why didn't that kill their market?

Actually - now that I think of it - a big line, a lot of people... what better opportunity to 'clean house' for a potential whack-o, eh?
