"How lame do you have to be to spend your time like that on the Internet? Can't you do something more constructive, like surf the porn? Or go into the real world and interact with people rather than cyber-sniping."
- Found this one to be really funny commentary on some of the posters here; just hope I don't fall into this category, yikes.
"Each flick I`ve done is kind of a snapshot of where I was in my life when I wrote it; `Clerks II` really speaks to where I am in life at the moment. You don`t have to be an analyst to look at the movie and go, `The Quick Stop means a little more than the Quick Stop, and Florida represents something more than just going to Florida.` That`s kind of where I am. There`s definitely something bittersweet about arriving at `Clerks II."
- I feel that this is also true for everybody who really enjoyed Clerks when they were younger; just thinking about where you were in your life when you first saw it compared to when you saw Clerks II. For me, when Clerks first came out I was only in about 3rd grade, so the first time I saw Clerks wasn't probably a good 6 years after it came out. But even from then until I saw Clerks II, I am happy with where I am but still look back and think, damn those were some good times. Which I guess is the bittersweetness he is referring to in arriving at Clerks II.
I mean, who else gets payed as much as him for just acting. He rarely says a word in any of his movies and when he does, its usually something deep & profound. What makes it even better is he gets to direct them too, who wouldn't want that for their job?
He also married a "hot" Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, I use "hot" because she could kinda go both ways on that one.......... and that should have been long enough to get that last part.
And to be honest, when I was younger I identified with him alot because I was a fairly quick adolescent and liked how he would only talk about, as I said before, deep & profound topics or atleast present it as such.
I also have to admit I didn't realize he had a podcast, its actually been a while since I have followed up on him. I'm more than a little rusty on what he has been up to these days. I'm definitely gonna check out his podcast and of course... a copy of his book would be bad either *wink wink.
This is another one of the patents my family has had for YEARS! Now if you don't mind, I'll be suing you for those margaritas & the private island... and for good measure the rest of your hopes & dreams as well.
It is pretty much like the ultimate preview of a song, everything but the best riffs. If you think about it, that is one of the main reasons people go to concerts. It isn't to just hear the song, you can do that off your iPod. No, what people really want is the experience and that little something extra the band gives when they are live.
I mean really, this eliminates pirating all together. Who would still want to go and pirate the ep song, but the douches of society?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Another brick in the wall (oops, I hope they do not come to me charging for the quote...)
First, I got to say I do like your idea and again great fnckin name.
Second, I meant it to be what if we sent lobbyists to the lobbyists to lobby to them about lobbying, or something along that line. I am pretty sure no one does this yet, but its whatever.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Another brick in the wall (oops, I hope they do not come to me charging for the quote...)
Well I like it! Sign me up!
Since we already know they are void of all humanity and in all likeliness are ROBOTS, maybe a little paradox would cause their circuits to overload & heads to explode. Such as:
What if we sent in lobbyists to lobby against lobbyists?
And if their heads didn't explode, wouldn't that at least force them to lobby against our lobbyists which would start a never ending circle(redundant?) of counter-lobbying?
Then vwalla! no more lobbying for special interests.
Regional Manager: Wow, I am glad you all are taking this so well. I guess then you won't mind that none of you are getting severance pay either! Bwahahaha!
Re: Re: Another brick in the wall (oops, I hope they do not come to me charging for the quote...)
Hmm... sounds good, but what does your option entail exactly? We talking about the guillotine, public stoning, etc, or does Dark Helmet have something more sinister in mind?
I see a lot of people on here that started playing or knew someone that started playing an instrument because of these games. On the other hand, how many people do you personally know that has emulated the violence from Halo or whatnot? I know my brother recently bought a guitar and is starting a band with his friend because of Guitar Hero, but he has yet to go and purchase a weapon to start inflicting damage to things.
Ok, first of all relax a little, anger causes your body to release chemicals that reduce intelligence(hence all your ridiculous personal attacks). Second, I think you completely misunderstand what people mean by tort reform. While I agree there will be those that support the kind of reform you mention, the vast majority of the supporters just want to cut back on what some call "frivolous" lawsuits. So don't be so quick to assume they want to abolish lawsuits all together.
Imagine this for a moment, you are a radio talk show host and you call your competitor short(he happens to be 5'6"). Well they hear about it and turn around a complain to their network, which happens to be one of those "Big companies" you hate so much. Well since they have lawyers on payroll anyways, they turn around and slap you with a slander lawsuit. So now you have to put up hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend yourself, because the "Big company" can afford to string the obviously frivolous lawsuit along until you are completely broke. Do you think that is fair or right?
That is precisely the type of tort reform we need, to keep situations like that from happening. So don't try to lump all tort reform under "only good for big companies." The same lawsuits you like can be used by the "Big companies"/(anyone with a grudge) against private citizens, including yourself. While there are perfectly good lawsuits, we should protect people from the bad ones.
It is actually very simple, they are the ones making the laws through "campaign contributions" and lobbyists. They are also the ones with armies of lawyers to cover their gold plated asses.
That is pretty much what I was getting at, but I would also add that laws that say something is wrong and you shouldn't do it are good for those without other forms of guidance. However, if it starts to intrude into the people's rights as free Americans that is when problems arise(Nanny State). It is one thing to say "if you do 'X', then 'Y' will happen." It is something completely different when you say "you HAVE to do 'A,B,C' so we can prevent 'X' from happening." The gov't doesn't need to be part of telling us what to do, but what will happen if we do; although, even then there should be restrictions.
Just to clarify, the reason people were initially up in arms wasn't over what the President was saying, but the handouts about what you could do for HIM instead of the COUNTRY in general. However, once there was outrage, it kind of just built from there. I doubt most could accurately describe what exactly it was that they disagreed with that wasn't rectified prior to him performing the speech. By the end, only the ignorant were still against it.
"when they look you want them to look you listen to them"
First, I am assuming you were trying to say "when they look the way you want them to you listen to them." Second, there is now white America, or black President for that matter, there is only America and our President. Race doesn't need to be injected here. Third, everyone judges someone else by the way they are dressed and/or project themselves, whether it be conscious or subconscious. However, I would agree with you that there is a portion of America that is ignorant, but that reflects on the individuals not the race in general.
They can't even see past their own nose; seeing anything more would be a huge achievement. And of course, by the time they get in power their head is already so far up their own posterior that the only thing they can see is their tonsils.
