Re: effect in the US
A likely result will be that the BRIC countries wont sign (Brazil, India, Russia and China) Rendering the whole of ACTA worth less than the paper it is printed on.

"You mean the jobs they want to grant more HB-1 visa's for foriegner's to fill? "
The whole reason for the HB-1 Visas is that American companies need to be able to survive even if they cannot find local qualified personell. so ... try again.

"If you're running Amazon S3 or Dropbox, do you now suddenly change how you do business, just to avoid the possibility of being accused of racketeering and criminal copyright infringement? That's worrisome. "
Even bigger issue is, Would you trust a cloud storage to be safe for your buissness, your family photos or whatever you use it for.
Lack of trust means lack of sales, lack of sales means end of service.
So yes, if all their claims pan out, there's still going to be a hit to the economy as cloud storage will be deemed more and more untrustworthy.

I kinda think that this was a standing order for the police in NZ as soon as he entered the country. the Timing is just so so so completely wrong for this to have been set into action right now.

Or simply make any donations to a candidate go through the IRS and paid out anonymously to the candidate in random sums.
Sure, people can _claim_ they donated but how will the candidate know if there's no payment for the specific amount the IRS gives them ?
