Being a cop is a profession. You can stop being a cop. Stop equating badmouthing the cops with racial or orientation slurs. They are not the same./div>
Would it really be that hard to provide some information that actually points to where this took place. I can guess that the court was Amarillo, but where did it take place? Who were the officers involved. You mention police officers through most of the article, but then in the court opinion they are suddenly DEA agents.
Isn't this what the whole fight is about? I'm not even a lawyer, and I realized the first time I read about this case how important it was that Apple simply refuse to do this (under any circumstances, including jail time for contempt of court). Once the phone evidence enters the courtroom, the entire process of unlocking the phone is subject to scrutiny. The precedence issue is secondary./div>
what does a thousand times less mean? are you saying one-one-thousandth or .1% or are you saying that it is a thousand times more. when you multiply by a thousand things get bigger when you divide they get smaller./div>
if the mpaa can do this the ag's who else is doing it? big oil, car manufacturers, retail groups. mpaa is small fish (albeit with a big mouth) compared these other guys. who cares about mpaa, that's just entertainment (ok, there's a little free speech element thrown in there too), but these other groups have much more at stake and much deeper pockets (bp anyone?)./div>
i think we should ban assault copyright and high capacity copyright magazines. we should also look into the better mental health options for bloggers so this never happens again./div>
no, you can't say we "reserve the right" to do something and then say "just kidding". by saying that you "reserve the right" indicates that (a) you have thought of it and (b) you have every intention of doing it under some set of circumstances. otherwise, there would be no reason to reserve the right./div>
i know that this seems extreme (it is!), and the people of the will feel the pain sooner than the mayor. in the end, however, the mayor will feel pain when he is up for reelection. this will be true especially after several lawsuits have drained the city coffers and they cannot afford to maintain the streets./div>
"in the second most powerful position in the world"
seriously, with the exception of dick cheney who was pulling the strings on w, who really thinks the vice president has any power at all? true, the vice president is the second highest position in our government. however, the position of vice-president has only one very limited power and one not used very often at that./div>
"If everyone just "does without," how does this improve the situation for either the content creator or the customers? Once you've taken the piracy out of it, all you've got left is a set of lousy options that do nothing for everyone involved. If rights holders are happier merely saddling up their high horse and riding to the nearest moral peak, so be it. Riding that horse won't make you any richer, though. All it does is further separate you from your potential income."
maybe i'm a defeatist, but it seems clear that the lesson comes across loud and clear. you screw with the customers and they will go away. right now with all the pirating there is always that to blame. if people just ignore/boycott products that are priced wrong or come with unacceptable strings attache, the resulting lack of sales will send the message. right now they all can say, "but, but pirating!" the illusion of getting the pirates to pay up goes away and the legacy players might either learn or go away when they can't adapt./div>
since when have you supported paying people for their "story" unless they wrote it. in fact, you are the one that regularly rants on about people who feel they deserve to be paid just because somebody made a story about their life.
this level of inconsistency is becoming a problem, mike. i really like this site, but i'm starting to be unable to trust you to speak coherently because you are too busy trying to nitpick the xxaa's at any cost, including your integrity./div>
let them lock up their "culture". do we really want it? personally i would rather watch someone like louis ck who understand what it means to create culture. free ideas get out and prosper, caged ideas wilt./div>

What gives?/div>
Isn't that the point?
Rank hath its privileges
If NBC is the copyright police then they are above the law. Just ask any cop./div>
