I also, in Maryland, have Mediacom as my only viable option. Verizon's highest DSL tier would cut my speed from 12 to 7 mbps and jump my price by about $20.
I've dealt with Mediacom's constant disconnects, packet loss, insane pings, and general instability since I've lived here. Nothing ever changes. The DOCSIS 3.0 upgrades just increased speed, not stability.
Can't say I've seen these ads during my own browsing. I guess ABP just wins overall.
I used to have a VPN to encrypt my traffic, I am considering buying one again,/div>
If it's not built into Internet Explorer, it doesn't exist. Since most users use IE anyway, and have no idea to install Firefox, let alone Addons, they don't care that NoScript and ABP exist. It's not serving the "majority" of the population./div>
I saw that too.
I find it interesting that you can hijack a plane with nail clippers (what, 2 inches long) but not with an unloaded M1 (2-3 feet long, blunt force will do the trick)./div>
Yeah, plenty of old laws in many states that they never bothered to repeal and are never enforced anymore.
Right now, copyright law is almost like a curfew. It's only enforced when the entertainment industry sees it as a "problem". They don't care if you download something made by the little guy, but cut into their profits and/or resell it and you've got a bloodhound behind you. A poorly trained one, at that./div>
Yeah, but then we still have to try it ourselves, cause you know the US can do everything better and more efficiently than all the other countries. Then once it's messed up we'll just back away slowly, turn and run while the IT department has to fix the mistake./div>
