Price Matters

from the if-it-costs-too-much-no-one-will-use-it dept

At least one carrier understands that pricing will drive wireless data adoption. SprintPCS plans to have lower data prices than competitors when it completes its network upgrade later this year. So far all they are talking about is the business users, but if businesses think this stuff is too expensive, you can forget about consumers sending each other photo messages.

    Yes, but...

I know that I'm always complaining that the wireless carriers don't get it and are pricing stuff badly, but I also get worried when a company announces any strategy where they claim they're going to offer the "lowest" price on anything - because that commits them to always dropping their prices. It could cause worse service to result. What I'd like to see the wireless carriers do is figure out ways to offer good services at reasonable prices. Is that so much to ask for? Probably.
