Canadian Heritage Minister Denies Calling His Critics On Copyright Bill 'Extreme Radicals'; Video Proves He Said It
from the deny-deny-deny dept
The recent story about Canadian Heritage Minister James Moore lashing out at his critics over the Canadian version of the DMCA (C-32) and calling them "radical extremists" has been getting an awful lot of attention, including condemnation from other elected officials. However, Moore's response has been anything but comforting. He apparently denied saying those words in a correspondence with Michael Geist, but it didn't take long for some video to surface that not only shows him saying that, but many other nasty things about anyone who dares criticize the bill:Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Those who complain about a lack of IP are the only babyish ones here. They want the government to hold their hands with legislative subsidies, like babies, because they can't compete in a free market.

He likes to model himself as tech savvy - which to him means tweeting about the latest Apple product he's acquired - but it's bizarre how he's really screwed up his social media usage. Stephen Harper has a reputation for keeping his ministers on a tight leash - I'm sure he's not happy with the way James Moore is handling this situation right now.

Let us not forget that there IS no Canada outside of the GTA. Places like Calgary, Regina, Montreal, Halifax, Vancouver and St Johns are figments of fevered imagining and are not real.

Re: Re:
it must be wednesday at techdirt, because here's yet another story short on facts. i mean, seriously? moore says something in a private email and you use it to expose him for the complete liar he is? sort of a gotya moment, isn't it? and did you even get him? all you did was find evidence that completely contradicts wht he said in a private email. score another point for techdirts invasion of privacy and raporism.
