Techdirt Podcast Episode 130: Is It Bad If Facebook Copies Everything Snapchat Does?

from the fast-following dept

You may have heard the joke: the best way to do product design for Facebook is to get a job at Snapchat. We've all seen how, after failing to buy the company, Facebook has wasted little time in building its own versions of most of Snapchat's key features. So... is this a problem? That's the subject on this week's episode, were we discuss the ins and outs of this kind of copying and what it might mean for the future of social media.

Blather and disorganised argument on important issues

I am an avid non-subscribing follower of the TechDirt podcast.

This one is a serious disappointment. In this episode "the usual cohorts" manage to not clearly explorer the issues involved in tech copying/replication/evolution.

As a throw into the discussion, what is the most revolutionary idea? I suggest the evolution from alchemy to science (i.e publish and expose yourself to peer review).

Instead ... snapchat, like hording, facebook, angry voices, interrupting others experssion, media whoring, digital environment obscession, etc..

    oh dear.
