Techdirt Podcast Episode 204: The Failure Of High Tech Policing
from the bad-tech-or-bad-cops dept
Sometimes people ask us why we write so much about the police on Techdirt. Though our coverage has grown somewhat beyond the boundaries of incidents directly involving technology, the reality is that the problems with law enforcement persistently intersect with the same technological and legal issues we've always discussed here. But this week the focus is squarely on cops and technology: Mike is joined by Matt Stroud, author of the new book Thin Blue Lie, as well as our own Tim Cushing, to talk about the failure of high-tech policing.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

No matter how high tech gets, people can always out-stupid it.
You pirates are no doubt thinking the cops can out-stupid it, but that's only maybe a tenth the problem of you drug addicts and anarchists.
You are not being oppressed by following the very few rules to be decent and bother no one else. Libertarianism doesn't work among stupid people any more than other notions do. Quit being stupid and quit sticking up for those who are deliberately stupid. Then the human species might have a chance.

So, by your first statement, even you can't follow the very few rules to be decent and bother no one else. How is calling everyone here pirates, drug addicts and anarchists being decent?

Re:
High tech policing fails because you have all the investigative capability of a torn brown paper bag soaked in piss.
Seriously, your standard of evidence is the fucking RIAA. Your business model of enforcement is based on scaring extortion money out of people.
It's no wonder you can't police actual crimes. You're terrible at it, no questions asked.
