Re: Lazy Wendy's milkshake
Quite a rant when you can google FTC US or gov and get your response. So...lazy...too...dumb...to...search...properly. I applaud Mike for helping you. I would have only berated your inability to use your mind grapes. Wait...I just did that!

No government
Antarctica doesn't have a government. The email notice was sent to all employees of the USAP, which is a government agency. Therefore, they have a say in which programs should or should not be allowed on their networks. As was said before, this is most likely and IT request from an employer.

Re: Re: Re: My only issue as a writer
it was good enough that most Harry Potter fans read the book and accepted it as canon
No true fan would be oblivious to the fact that the book wasn't written by the original author. That is my issue with your argument. Wait a minute...this book was written by J.R. Bowling?

Re: Re: Does everyone pay a cut?
Actually where I live there is a Hollywood Video and a Family Video and at least four RedBox kiosks. No Blockbuster. I haven't ventured to Hollywood Video. But Family Video is okay. They lend out old childrens movies for free (no purchase necessary) and all their movies are rented for $1 a piece with the length of rental depending on how old the movie is. That is pretty good competition with the two RedBox kiosks that sit within one block either direction. Especially with selection. Plus the free kids movies compete with the public library.
I just did a quick google and it looks like Blockbuster does pay royalties but they are not required to under current copyright law.

Re: Download...don't copy!
So...if I want to back up my DVDs I should torrent a copy to my hard drive. I have the right to a copy and I didn't have to directly and personally circumvent DRM. I am freeeeeee!

Re: Support health care reform?
Most likely because they will be getting a guaranteed chunk of taxpayer money instead of just getting what they get for swindling the public into giving them cash for high priced meds. And I bet there will be some nice pharma patent extension and exclusive government med provider riders on some of these health care bills.

Re: Re:
I would say that MTV dropped the music to start a more profitable reality tv lineup. They started MTV2 which played music...until they started showing the reruns of the reality tv shows on that. MTV became more about the lifestyle of music and almost nothing about the music itself. To come full circle, I think music was on the decline and MTV jumped to a new model.

Who's gonna write the book?
Somebody should write a book about copyright insanity (or they could update an edition to an existing text) and place a picture of the bull statue's ass on the cover.
Now that is crap. I am guessing most people have unlimited calling so that wouldn't change the cost. Using Google Voice would actually still use data. I'm not sure how good the data plan is but using GV instead of the phone plan might give network providers...(correction, the only network provider) more money. I am guessing it has more to do with battery life. =]
Ha! That is 100% correct. And at AC that replied. Sarcasm detector fail. I know it is hard to read sarcasm but on the internet it is best to read everything as sarcasm. You will get the joke more often than not that way.
Google enjoyed having people think that YouTube was such a loser, since it held back competition.
I would think Google would want competition. You never know who might come up with a great idea, start a company, gain traction, then get bought up by Google.
