If the whole philosophy behind child porn, or people being underage in general is that they can't give consent because they don't know well enough to make an informed decision, how can anyone claim they should know better than to do this?
The bigger irony is that the kids wouldn't be able to make decisions in their trials without the consent of a parent or guardian, would they?
A lawsuit would be stupid, but anyone who claims they can't hear any similarity didn't listen to the songs. There's a repeating three-note synth line that is exactly the same in both songs.
That isn't a "blatent rip-off", as it isn't terribly unique riff, but I can clearly see how one would remind a person of the other.
Nobody objects to that. The notion that you have to get paid to let people advertise for you is scary. Worse yet, not everyone can get an article in the NY Times to create bad PR and force their label to do something about it.
That paragraph combines two different points in a possibly misleading way. I'm pretty sure Mike's only quibble was that the embeds didn't take away from the YouTube site views, but added to them.
The loss of overall business from cutting out free advertising is a point Mike often makes, and Damian clearly made in his article.
I, like some others, don't think this guy's story makes sense. He came out of the scanner and saw girls with a printout? How fast are these printers? They would have to be right next to the scanners too. I suspect a journalist reporting on the earlier trials would've noticed this, and/or some employee would've revealed their availability. How did he confuse a picture of himself naked for a form he had to fill out? When does security ever have you fill out forms? For that matter, when can you ever direct security to give you something at an airport?
It's also quite a coincidence that there happen to be multiple girls working the scanner who are also fans of Bollywood films. While those chances are higher in England than here, how was he the first person/celeb this happened to in the world's second busiest airport?
While the scanners are stupid, I doubt this is real. I think this is just an actor telling an amusing tale.
To clarify something: using a pre-hacked version of the software isn't circumventing the protection, and isn't against the DMCA. Using a tool that will crack/hack the software itself would be a violation.
I'm not certain where a basic key generator would fall though, since using a key is doing exactly what the software is designed to do.
I'm way late to this, but if the delay makes for a better customer experience, shouldn't they be doing this across the board with every title? Why stop at WB; why not make that a global policy?
FYI, MySpace had to fight off rumours that they were going to start charging too. (I mean a few years ago, when people used it.) I didn't know they might've started that trend on Friendster, but I just assumed it was natural human panic taking over when random people tried to start fires.
I have intelligent friends and I still see stuff about "Google is going to make all your personal FB info available if you don't change this little setting they didn't tell you about!!!" It's completely misunderstood, and doesn't make sense, but people buy into it.
