Bullshit. We live in a world where food, clean water, medical care and education are not viewed as entitlements
Says who? You?
It sure reveals how pathologically obsessed you freeloaders are.
I'm not a "freeloader," you arrogant ass. The culture I enjoy is already free. But I am a sympathizer with those you do classify as "freeloaders." Why? Because, quite simply, they're the enemy of my enemy.
Make the materials available worldwide to those who wish to see it. Stop whining because someone has the AUDACITY to view it for free, instead of having the "morals" to say, "Gee, even though it's right there on the internet available to me and I really want to see it, I should just not watch it because the retail system will never offer it here."
but the first 20 links all take me to free downloads, perhaps I am going to take the free download just to see. Right there, Google has cause some portion of the population to move from paying customer to piracy.
You're aware the ranks are based on popularity, right? The pirate sites aren't listed at the top because Google puts them there, they're listed at the top because they're what people want.
Black and Beiber aren't very good examples, since they both found their initial fame without record labels. As far as I know, Rebecca Black still isn't signed to one.
I've been considering switching to a Linux system for my next home computer, but I honestly have enough trouble as it is with compatibility and drivers with Windows. I'm not a "nerd," but I'm so damn sick of Microsoft and Apple.
Attitudes like yours are the reason 80% of the silent movies are lost. You treat art as "property" and actually believe the copyright holders have a right to destroy it and deprive the world of it...or just let it rot away on a shelf.
That's bullshit. Once you publish it, it's the "property" of the world. Got a problem with that? Don't publish.
Bingo. I've never understood the notion of wanting to publish something for world consumption, but then saying "It's mine! All mine! Maybe I'll offer you the privilege of using it, but only if you pay me a very high sum of money that I've arbitrarily set!"
That's bullshit to me. You don't get it both ways.
I've been much more cautious in my usage of terminology pertaining to these issues since I started reading this site. This caution manifests itself in a myriad of ways:
1. I always say "copyright holder" instead of "copyright owner."
2. I never refer to works as "properties" or use the term "intellectual property."
3. I, too, have begun to use the phrase "hostage works."
4. I say that works are "under copyright restriction," rather than "under copyright protection."
5. I say "released to the public domain" instead of "lapsed into the public domain."

It's mind-boggling that so much is made of free access to entertainment with all of the legitimate want in this world.
Then why ARE you making so much of it?

Yet you accuse the people on this site of being "anti-artist," when you won't even properly attribute the creator of an artistic work!
YOU, sir, are anti-artist.
