Just so there's no confusion, I'm not in favor of abolishing copyright. I am in favor of reforming it so it stops being abusive and causing harm to people both individually and collectively.
As a copyright owner, I probably shouldn't rate the above statement at all, but not only do I like it, I also agree with it!
How can a company copyrighting rounded corners for beyond the human lifespan be considered anything other than "unlimited?"
Actually, Apple patented rounded corners for twenty years only. Please don't make valuable arguments invalid by stating innaccuracies.
The problem is that it doesn't even give me what I paid for, and that's why I've never bought anything encumbered with Digital Restrictions Malware since wasting good money on a copy of Myst IV that requires installation to apply the DRM removal patch, but couldn't be installed beyond the first disc. 'Tard.

Thank you for providing clear evidence that you're a paid maximalist shill, bob. I hope that Techdirt starts putting names above the cut soon to make your crap easier to ignore.
Re: Re: Re: @ "Rikuo" - "Which is why I don't see anything wrong with paying for cyberlockers."
So if I uploaded copies of the original stories I've written to a cyberlocker, that automatically makes me a 'pirate', does it? And how does one, exactly, infringe one's own copyright?
On top of that, [Kathy Wolfe] spends over $30,000 a yearabout half her profitjust to send out takedown notices for her titles.
Then she's doing it wrong. I once wrote an article for glossynews.com about ATOS Origin that exploded all over the web for a week or so, and one site that reposted it attributed the site they'd found it on, not where I'd posted it. So I used the contact form of the site in question to ask them to correct the attribution, and they pulled the article entirely, claiming that they couldn't edit it (yeah, right!). Total cost, five minutes max of my time and 0.00 of my money.
Re: Re: The principles remain in place DESPITE easier copying.
And maybe pay back those artists who wound up owing the record companies money after making hugely successful songs that brought in mucho moola. If other companies tried that with their employees, the unions would be pitching screaming fits over it, which may be why politicians are consistently trying to destroy the unions.
What's inconsistent? Leslie is the correct spelling for a male with that name. I'd be more worried if the person was a man and Techdirt was calling him Lesley.
"I don't want to leave you without something you can take back to your blog and obsess over, so here's a picture of me."
Pretty damn clear, no? This is Gina giving Dr. Amy explicit permission to, and I paraphrase, "take the photo back to [her] blog." Thus I expect the case to collapse at the pre-trial stage.
