Maybe Mike should just change the whole text of the flagged comment to light pink instead, or even white, instead of collapsing it. :)
I still think it sounds like people getting butthurt because so many people dare disagree with them. Next thing, they'll be complaining that they are being 'censored' by not getting Insightfuls, Funnies, or First/Last Words!
I am totally not a libertarian (being s 'dirty European socialist liberal commie', or something...) but I do agree that no-one 'deserves' an income any more than anyone else, so why should content creators be guaranteed any more income than anyone else? At most they could argue to get 'welfare-level' compensation, or minimum wage...
It's no less sane than having states able to make up the rules that (dis)allow people to exercise their Constitutional right to vote in Federal elections, or have those votes go through an electoral college that may completely ignore what they voted.
It makes almost as much sense as voting in Sheriffs, etc...
At least Mike is open about his beliefs and affiliations. You can't even admit who you are, let alone being an actual paid shill. Although obviously you're either not being paid enough to shill effectively, or you're so desperate to hang onto your shill funding that you take the most moronic things the gatekeepers say and stretch them into hyper-FUD...
The thing is, if you don't have health insurance and become ill, you become a burden on society. If you don't buy entertainment, you only become a 'burden' on the content controllers who feel hard-done-by.
Weirdly enough, all of Europe has 'forced' health insurance, and our governments aren't generally needing to be stopped by armed hordes of concerned citizens from 'forcing' other stuff through in a non-democratic manner. Except maybe when they kow-tow to US interests...
Honestly, you guys see everything as a hostile Injun or Federal Tax Collector.
Taxes are you buying your 'right' to take part in modern society. When you're rich enough, you can buy your way out of the taxes too *and* buy the laws that control modern society!
So if every other business does what is good for it, it's just legitimate business practices and the free market, but when Google does what's good for it, or, shock horror, what's good for the public, it's "teh ebil"? Way to show off the actual bad elements of capitalism! The 'free' market is only 'free' to help the 1%?
