Dude, try replying to the comments not just starting a completely new thread. You've got some semi-interesting things to say and you say them in a civil manner (how very un-TAM like of you), but you are damn near impossible to follow this way.
This thing can already replicate itself (well, maybe not 100% but a vast majority of the parts) right now. The creator is also currently working on a way to allow this machine to recycle your household "garbage" plastics as raw materials. Estimates range around a couple hundred dollars to have a fully functioning 3D fab machine in your house.
There is no need to go to BestBuy to get one, just find someone who already has one and have it replicate itself! This is today, right now. Just imagine where this technology will be in another 5 to 10 years.
I would think that they would begin to resemble an infinite good. The "RepRap" 3D printer can actually replicate itself with a 3D blueprint. The creator is currently working on a system where the RepRap will use common household "garbage" plastics to create its designs.
When the 3D printer can build more of itself using nothing more than your old shopping bags things start to look cheap to create.
Re: Merger matters because local cable monopolies OWN internet access
An actor said that?! Must be true. Don't forget that not everyone lives in the good old US of A, they internet still works outside of your borders last time I checked.
Have artist historically been getting rich off of art? Have they historically been able to make a living? Did the historical artists have labels and lawyers suing their fans? Is what is going on now historically abnormal?
XP is good and all but DX10/11 is really coming into its own these days. If you are serious about PC gaming XP just doesn't cut it anymore I am afraid.
There are already stories of studios blocking access to Google TV. They aren't that stupid. They know Google TV is a threat, they will try their hardest to avoid that threat. Make no mistake about that, soon Google TV will be deemed a national security issue or something and made illegal.
Lucky! My wife can't imagine a world without cable at the moment. We're in the same boat, young, educated and making good money. The problem we find ourselves in is we live in Canada and we don't have nearly the same online viewing options that you folks do in the US.
No Hulu, Netflix is gimped. All that we have really is crappy TV station streaming options. She isn't willing to dump cable for an HTPC just yet. Oh, we've also already got plenty of metered broadband as well. Trying to stay legal is getting harder by the day!
Of course they will. Actually Craig Moffett already came out and said as much, he is the very same guy who came out with the extremely quotable "dogs breakfast" line.
Give it time... We'll all end up giving up cable one day, one way or another. What happens when the younger generation is all that is left? They won't suddenly start buying cable subscriptions because they've become aged.
They all run on Gnutella, that network is up, Frostwire still works. Limewire probably just has some sort of central sever that connects to the Gnutella network and that got taken down.
Activision killed the music game fo sho. You can't keep pumping out 2 new Guitar Hero games a year for $100 a pop and expect interest to stay high. Typical Activision though, keep pumping out the releases of any given game until people stop buying and then move on to your next property to milk to death.
I can't see that being true. I'm in Canada and I still get the FBI warning. What does that mean to me? An American law enforcement agency is going to come and get me? They just add them in there as a scare tactic, one that seems to work quite well I might add. ;)
I thought I should point out, before I get jumped on by all the wanna be TAM's out there, that I don't actually torrent files myself. That doesn't mean that there is a shortage of friends who are happy to bring along a flash drive with some files on it when they stop over.
