The USA is the finest possible police state in existence! The kind where the blind-sheep citizens bleet in little circles and crow loudly about their 'freedoms' while the despotic fascist regime does whatever it wants.
Were I the intentional creator of such a perfect Machiavellian machination, I would be immensely proud.
The US Drug Companies have faith in their god-given right to gouge the American public forever--not just a time-limited forever, but for as long as the US Federal Regime endures.
I see only a couple likely futures for that scenario:
1) a new scapegoat will be found. (e.g. "Global warming to blame for falling DVD sales!" or perhaps "Fluoride in coffee found to lower interest in buying DVDs!")
or
2) They'll take the CIA/DEA approach and prop up the piracy thing so they can continue to 'fight piracy' with new laws/Gestapo tactics/federal hirelings...
If followed to it's insane conclusion, you have no rights.
That's right up there with the 'greater good' supersedes the 'rights of the few'. By that logic, because you are only one person, then the mass-rights of everybody can logically be used to suppress your rights.
Sadly, the truth of this is the 'greater good' excuse is already being employed to suppress your rights.
(For proof, see above article--just one of a large disturbing trend.)
