That's what all the big media companies are missing. They're still living in the 70's & 80's where distribution windows still worked. The "global" internet didn't exist yet.
Now that everyone has friends all over the world thanks to social media sites, these distribution windows fail. Just look what happened with NBC's coverage of the Olympics...They thought it would be better to "Tape delay" the events so they could show them at prime-time. They forgot about social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. The News media was reporting on who won what medal the very next morning from the previous night's events. Watching the Olympics was a BIG waste of time since everyone already knew the results before NBC even aired the event.
Once these big media companies wake up and realize they are the problem, and not illegal downloaders, all these problems will go away. Problem is, that will NEVER happen.
They broadcast...If you don't like it, go somewhere else. Oh wait, they have Zone monopolies so if you want to change providers, you have to move to a different area.
So if I'm reading the graphic correctly, only 9 of the 50 States matter?? I guess the other 41 can just pack up and go home during elections. Think of the money we'd save if we only held elections in 9 states!!!
Yet another thing wrong with the electoral college.
Guns aren't to blame. Video games aren't to blame. Movies aren't to blame. Where should the blame fall? To the parents that fail at parenting. Being a parent involves a LOT more than just plopping your kid in front of the TV and/or computer/gaming console and ignoring them.
To be frank, CPS is to blame. Without the ability to properly "discipline" our children without fear of being sent to jail, they'll grow up doing whatever the hell they want. I play video games, watch violent movies...Even listen to Rock & Roll music. I was spanked as a child. You don't see me running around "shooting heads."
This is the main reason I will never purchase Diablo III. I enjoyed playing the first 2 games, and Blizzard was releasing high quality games. The reason I liked playing them? That was something I could play when I was without an internet connection. Now that all the games these days are requiring an internet connection to play, even for single-player games, I find myself passing on a lot of games I'd normally buy.
I have to admit that I'm not sure I understand the comma notation in those unique visitor numbers (don't you normally put a comma every 3 digits rather than 4? Is that a phone number? Are they talking about 3.4 million or 34 million?).
I think I just figured out MPAA Math!!! Now to go back and do some recalculations to check!!!
The effort, which would have been rushed to completion by January had Mr. Romney won, will now be finished at a more leisurely pace, the official said.
A more leisurely pace, meaning in about 4 years???
The idea behind this unfortunate requirement is to save your gaming preferences for supported mice and keyboards to the cloud so the next time you're at a LAN party (assuming your LAN party lets you "dial out," so to speak), for example, you would just log in and retrieve your settings, rather than start from scratch on a new computer. Unfortunately, the execution is all effed up.
Normally, you bring your OWN computer to a LAN party. (At least the ones I participated in during the 90's.) The idea behind a LAN party wasn't to just have a frag-fest with all your buddies in the same room, but to also show off your modded case and brag about your computer specs.
I guess I purchased my last razer mouse. Logitec, here I come...
Which is why you vote for the lesser of two evils...In this case, that would be Obama. Romney just scares me with his blatent disrespect against women and their right to choose.
Consider the poor sucker who actually went out and paid cash money for the latest shiny disc and now has to watch a multitude of eagle-laden logos and horrible analogies parade unskippably across his or her screen before finally being allowed to watch the unskippable trailers before finally being allowed to watch 15 seconds of unskippable animation before they can actually watch the movie they're now regretting having shelled out actual retail price for.
Or you can do what I do. Pop in the disk, and while all that "unskippable" content is playing, you can go to the bathroom, make popcorn, and do anything else that's needed befor the movie starts. That way, when the movie DOES start, you're ready and won't need to pause halfway through because you forgot to do something before the movie started.
I have to thank the MPAA for giving me enough time to do all that before the movie starts. When else am I going to find the time to do all the mundane pre-movie watching activities???
No matter the amount of cybersecurity we have out there, there's nothing that can been done about social engineering. There will ALWAYS be stupid people out there...Just look at the last post about Sandy and twitter.
If there are any critical systems exposed to the internet, then the IT Engineers involved should be fired. There is no reason I see that we need to be able to remotely control any critical systems off-site.
As long as we have stupid people, we will NEVER be 100% secure with our IT infrastructure. As for using the storm as a comparison, we knew it was coming DAYS in advance.
